why not the HONDA CENTER? Since when is toyota more pop than honda? Plus Honda starts with a H like Houston and maybe could somehow get tied in. Oh well. For the record, dotn ever buy a toyota. They suck. If you want a truck, get Ford F150. A suv get a Explorer or expedition,a luxary get Nisson nsx or Mercedez ,import get Honda accord not civic. The element looks sucky to. Dont get crysler. Or gmc or anything else american. But toyotas are made real weak like plastic, and rattle ALOT and vibrate ALOT.
Who cares what they call it. Its just a name, every stadium/arena is now named after a large company. So what were you guys expecting?
Toyota's are not good cars? Even their Land Cruisers? That's hilarious. Nevermind, it's off topic anyways. I kinda like it. I'd rather have ISO center though, lol.
I'm more of a lurker...i don't post much, but I check out the boards every day... you guys will complain about everything....no matter what the move is...even if it's a rumored move....the boards light up with complaints...
That's especially true after you just complained... I'm not too concerned about the naming of the arena... Although not too flashy, Toyota center is fine with me... now let's get the arena ready & winning some ball games...
High profile name with an Asian origin is good for the pocketbook and easier for Les to ignore any luxury tax hit that may come from signing a big name on the books. sounds good to me
Froot -of-the-Loom Arena Haynes HerWay Fieldhouse Trojan Tunnel Members Only Stomping Grounds Fubu MegaDome Tupperware Event Center Funyun FunHouse
I did not like Minute Maid Park because it sounds like little league games should be played there, but I have grown used to it. At first glance, I am not real fond of Toyota Center. I might have preferred Toyota Arena or some other ending description, but I am sure it will grow on me. More importantly, as other have said, let's cash in the money for players to win a championship.
I am cool with Toyota Center... sounds better than most other corporate entity facilities. But they might have been a tad more creative and called the new arena " The Lexus". Sounds cool... sorta like going to The Summit to watch a game. Likely the Toyota folks really wanted to associate the larger corporate name, but it would have made for a classier name IMO...
I'm surprised no one has implied that part of the reason Toyota wanted to get in on the action was because of Yao Ming. I wonder how many arenas have been named after foreign companies. Not that I have a problem with it, I just don't really remember another one.
Using the word'Center' sounds like an Exhibition Hall or a Treatment Center or a Transportation Center or a Manufacturing Center. It has no conitation with SPORTS. Toyota Arena or Toyota Sports Center has the right feeling about it.
Wow, you guys are the biggest whiners in the world. I admit I have whined about several things the Rockets have done lately, but what on earth is wrong with Toyota Center? Absolutely nothing. It is great that we got a major international corporation to back up the stadium. Toyota is huge and they make some of the best cars around. We would be hardpressed to find a better company.
Hate the name, but hopefully the team got a bucketload of dough for it... that's the most important. But yeah, "Center" doesn't have a nice ring to it... how about "Toyota Dome of Death"?!
Maybe more importantly, with the money at stake over this deal, can we assume that the organization's focus has been on closing this deal for the past few weeks, and thta now they will focus their attention (and new cash influx) on the roster situation?
Perhaps the building will be used for a lot of other stuff other than sports??? The Rockets and Comets will only be using the building 50-60 times a year, versus other events using it for 200+ dates.
I like this move. Toyota is a good company that won't go Enron on us. They have a large presence in Texas already (a large plant is under construction in San Antonio). Besides, it could be so much worse.
Any one noticed the similarities of the new logo and Toyota's logo? compared to .... Sorry, I couldn't resize the images.
