All Rockets fans are the greatest fans. The first part of my post was directed towards rustyman and his constant adhering of newer age Rocket fans. I was pointing out to him that just because he thinks he is "old school" and that only his era of fandom equates to being a "real" fan, that he isn't old school enough compared to others. I like all Rocket fans. Even the ones who were McGrady fans recently.

I believe tinman hated tmac almost from the beginning. So explain how that makes him a real Rockets fan when he wished failure upon one of our own Players.

All you are is a passive-aggressive TOH who starts these threads under the guise of "historical Rockets appreciation," but always as an indirect response to another thread, most likely related to McGrady.

Tell me, oh magnificent uber Rockets fan, why didn't you start this thread back when this actually happened? Surely you must have watched the last game of the season and witnessed the ovation Hakeem received, being one of the only TRUE 99er Rockets fans.

Don't bother, I already know what how you're going to reply:
I appreciate my Rockets history as any fan should, but your intentions are so ridiculously transparent it's not even funny.

why? they have nothing to do with the topic.

all I did was post a video of Hakeem at Toyota Center and others posted some fan reactions to other players from the Rockets.

I started this thread, if they don't like it, they don't have to post in it or read it.

hey if they want to talk about tmac, there are plenty of those threads around.

i do find it funny though and I am entertained!

I've consistently posted Hakeem threads, you can search for all of them, it's nothing new.

you can talk about mcgrady in the mcgrady threads.

Chuck didn't f***ing quit on us.

And he got us passed Seattle, which is why we got him in the first place.

umm that is a pretty stupid statement. What if someone is a kid right now and is just starting to get into sports and develops in to a Rockets fan. Is he less of a fan than you? Each generation are going to grow and get attached to different players and teams. Doesnt make them anymore or any less of a fan.

Oh and I live in San Diego where the Rockets started :) I guess that makes me a true Rockets fan.

I dont think the Chuck trade set us back as much as you may think. While i hated that we traded away Horry and Cassell, but at the time, if you have an opportunity to play 3 future HOFs on the same team, you do that!

This is the same thing that Boston did, and it worked out for them. They traded away some future picks and traded away some young talent (al jefferson) to bring in Garnett and Allen. And they'll probably struggle in a couple of years because Garnett, Allen and Pierce are getting up there in age.

Do you think the Lakers regret putting Shaq, Kobe, Malone, and Payton together? They didnt win a championship either... but i highly doubt they regret that decision.

I think what really set us back was when we signed (oh god... i gag and get close to vomiting when i mention his name) Pippen and then eventually traded him away for a bunch of scrubs (Cato, Walt Williams, Stacy Augmon, Carlos Rogers). It also didnt help when we traded away Richard Jefferson for Eddie Griffin on draft night...

Dude, you are totally in a wrong thread. This thread isn't about ranking our rockets, this is about posting youtubes of the crowds cheering a singular player as a thank you.

Go find a youtube of Sam's first game back playing against us, or Horry's. I would have loved to have found those youtubes. But I don't think they are out there.

Please stop derailing this thread. It's about fans cheering their Thank You's to our heroes/stars in comparison to TMac's return. duh!

And I am here to tell you that it is The Summit and TC that get to decide who their hero's/stars are that they want to cheer for in Thank You.

    Not you!!

Besides, Chuck is my hero, and that has little to do with him being a Rocket or a Sun.

    Hak34,

The other thing, it's not fair to tinman to say he only posts videos and original newspaper articles about one era. Do you know what it takes to find Chronicle archives of the early-mid 90s. That archive search is not very good. You really have to know your rockets history to use the right keywords to get the right article/hits. As for videos, he probably burned a lot of those from his own video archive of tape.

Now think for a second, if it's hard to find original newspaper clippings from the title years, how hard to you think it is to find them from the 80s and 70s. Tinman would have to go to the Public Library and scan from microfiche. I bet he will one day, too.

I for one, would like to see the articles of Moses dispatching Magic/Kareem 2-1 in 1981. And would love to see the vid of the Chicken Man making that halfcourt shot. Why don't you see if you can find that for us, or get off tinman's ass.

tinman likes to posts original vids and articles. He doesn't just editorialize. He's a historian. The earlier years are harder to find primary source of info.

The internet and digital archives of new is not that old, dude.

I don't think that dude likes my thread, but he sure posts a lot on it.
    that's some strange behavior.

I like the Toyota Center and the crowd is much smarter than people think, sure there are tons of corporate folk there, but they know their Rockets well.

Somebody busted out a Mad Max reference when I was at the Golden State game at the Tundra suite and it wasn't me!

You don't have to explain to people what Clutch City is, it's all over the place there. It's in their hearts.

This is laughable. Yeah, it's really hard to use a search function. And i'm sure the youtube clips he links to are totally his...

Tinman has one good post for a myriad of bad ones. I don't have a problem with the fact that he's stuck in the mid 90's, but he does a lot of unnecessary stuff. The guy's posting style relies heavily on belittling others and downplaying the opinion of anyone he doesn't agree. Other than that, the whole 99'er shtick is played off as a joke, but this guy actually believes it. Furthermore, it's impossible to actually have a conversation with him, because when proven wrong he resorts to posting random gangsta rap YouTube vids and spewing convoluted drivel about the 90's.

Every single time a thread is made about something he doesn't agree with (Maxwell issues, T-Mac, etc..) he makes a completely bogus thread to take subtle stabs at other posters. The whole greater than thou thing is getting old brah.

Ib4 gangsta rap/pics of rockets/U mad at my steez comments

tl;dr: Your act is generally unappealing Tinman

but you are on my thread right? it's like you say you don't like Tupac but you are the first one the dance floor waving your hands in the air when California Love gets blasted in the clubs.

    don't worry, "I ain't mad at cha"

All I said was I wouldn't be surprised if he burned some of the youtubes himself as contribution.

Regarding articles, you have no idea what you are talking about. Try to find original Houston Post/Chronicle articles from 1994. Now try the '80s. Their digital archives don't exist back that far. Get it!

The point I'm trying to make is tinman was accused of posting only about one era of the Rockets. My point is it is pretty damn hard to get anything of primary source origin (Post or Chronicle) from the 80's, without going to the Public Library.

Hell, you go and see if you can get the original recap articles of 1986 with all the boxscores of the Laker's series. Do you think that's easy???

Have you ever tried to use the Houston Chronicle Archive area's search function. You get WAAYY too many hits that are nothing, unless you know what you are doing. In the end, you are largely wading through a bunch of post game recaps. It is very time consuming. I've done it before for specific game quotes during the '94 streak and other times.

<b>bottomline</b>: The original articles that he posts are pretty impressive internet finds. It's literally impossible to find stuff older than the Chronicles digital archives.
