That's just CRAZY!!! My house in the Catskills is at 2800 feet elevation and my ears pop just driving it. I can't imagine riding a bike!
sissy sport? Do you have any comprehension of what these guys are doing? Have you ever rode a bike ~160-200 km in 5-6 hrs? ... For 21 days with only 2 rest days in between? Going up the side of mountains for 2,000-3,000 ft in ~10 of those days? Maybe you think MJ can play 48 minutes/ game for 21 games in 23 days?
You misread his question and still came up with a very good answer. 10 miles in 40 minutes and he was ahead 2:30 mins? That is about 0.63 miles.
Damn, this is pretty dang pathetic........... Armstrong didn't single out any one group today, but many observers noted that the German fans seemed quite aggressive today towards the American maillot jaune. "It's an interesting mix of people there," he commented. "You don't just have French people, you have a lot of German people and they're very excited. You have a lot of American people and they're excited...a lot of French, Italians...but what I don't understand, when I watch the television and you see certain fans, they cheer for everybody. Once guys droppin', a minute behind, two minutes behind, they cheer for everybody. They don't give 'em the bird, they don't spit on (them), they cheer for them. And then you see some people, once their guy goes by they cheer and then everybody else, they give 'em a hard time. It's no class." Armstrong showed a flash of fury when he reacted to the people who had been giving him the bird, spitting on him and writing 'F*** Armstrong' on the road. The tough Texan said, "That motivates me more than anything. It's very simple. It certainly doesn't work against me. I don't want to make it worse than it was. This is big-time sport. If the Bulls play the Knicks and they go into Madison Square Garden, they're not blowing kisses to the Chicago Bulls, back in the old days. This is big-time sport. The people are excited and emotional and they have their guy but that doesn't take away from my love of the game, with my desire to win. In fact, as I said, I think it puts a little fuel on the fire." entire article here: http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/2004/tour04/?id=results/stage16
This just got me fired up for my summer league games in the hood. If I don't post for a while, you guys will have to remember to pour out a little bit of your 40 oz. Malt Liquor for me next time you're kicking it.
she's much too pale to actually be from the states. i think she's going for the daisy duke stereotype, but can't quite fit the role.
i love how Lance is referred to as a Texan even more than he's referred to as an American. that was crazy when i found out he actually passed basso after the head start, especially since basso was the one guy hanging with him on the other mountain stages.
They should just hand Armstrong the Tour de France every year, maybe he can donate one to Ulrich, I feel sorry for him (what is he 8 minutes back?)
"The crowds were animated, I should say," said Armstrong, who complained in particular about German fans. Tour director says fans spat at Armstrong Tour de France director Jean Marie-Leblanc admitted Wednesday that he saw fans spit at Lance Armstrong during the first-ever time trial to historic L'Alpe d'Huez. link
