On a positive note: After years of notoriously bad draft picks, the Rockets may have mined a jewel in Head. Maybe. Also, there is some drama regarding free agent signings or trades. And maybe Badman has a great summer league and gets signed. Maybe. The real problem is there are no Rockets's games to watch. And a year ago that was a good thing. Another real problem with this summer is the Texan's offensive line, which is the key to the upcoming season. Without some big moves before the season starts, the Texans are in trouble. On another positive note, the Astros are coming around and have become "watchable." All in all, it is miserably HOT!
I'm feeling this pain very strongly too. My brother decided to get engaged to a girl from NY (we're in Australia). The original wedding date was around the start of Oct this year, then they changed their minds about the date. Instead of moving it back a few weeks, to say perhaps the start of the new NBA season, they selfishly moved it forward to the start of september! Now I have to go see the Yankees play instead of going to a game at the Garden (while i know it the knicks, it's still NBA & at MSG). BTW - any hints on good things for a sports nut to do in NYC (apart from the Yankees & the NBA shop)?
The Rockets are my life...everything else is a distant second. Is that not how everyone else on here is? So maybe it's YOU that needs to get a life! j/k
marriage? I was thinking drinks and sex, but whatever makes you happy I suppose. Of course if you aren't thirsty we can skip the drinks...
man roxgirl, why'd i have to introduce you to this board, now everyone is all up on you. when are we hangin out again by the way?
Not here to to get dates... plus, not many guys can handle a girl that is just as obesessed with the rockets if not more!
This thread is funny, reminds me of when I met this girl who loved NBA basketball. I was talking to her w/ my girlfriend next to me (who doesn't understand my love for the game ) and I was telling her how much of a Rockets fan I was. She told me how she use to always be on some Rockets fan site and we were both said "ClutchCity.net!!" and we talked about it for a while. I called my friend to tell him how I met a girl who was a clutchfans fanatic like we were and obviously my girlfriend getting a little annoyed. I think she might have even mumbled something about dating that chick or something. It didn't help that the girl was pretty damn hot. Not to be a sexist or anything, but a girl who loves NBA basketball, especially the Rockets, is hot.
Honestly, there hasnt been a FA in the past 2 offseasons that I really liked AND we could afford. Brent Barry and Derek Fisher both didnt appeal to me, and neither did James (ok I was wrong). This year its SAR and Walker and Swift. I guess I like Swift better than Walker but none get me excited. I mean, compared to these offseasons: 1. Trading for Barkley 2. Trading for Pippin 3. Trading for Stevie, then Pippin quitting on us 4. Hakeem traded 5. Trading for Griffin 6. Drafting Yao 7. Trading for McGrady this one...not so exciting.
When last season started we looked like a team in the middle of rebuilding. We had 2 all-stars and a bunch of pieces that didn't look like they fit. At the beginning of the year I was going to be excited if we even made the playoffs. Then sometime after Christmans things started clicking and we all thought we could win it all. A first round lost seemed devastating -- but in perspective I guess we did alright
