hey, i think i figured out why Obama's going to India- not to dodge coconuts at Ghandi's tomb, but to visit old friends:

Bulls**t- you respect the President, even if it's someone like Nixon who actually committed a crime and was caught doing so- you still respect the President. Just because a President passes legislation you don't agree with does not mean he does not deserve respect. Just goes to show how brainwashed individuals turn into crap. Utterly disgusting.

I don't think the president deserves respect just because he's the president.

It's been amusing to watch li'l t come scurrying back now that Republicans have finally started to recover from the historic multi-year electoral and legislative spanking they have received.

Yes, I did. Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama- all the Presidents in my lifetime- to disagree with one's policies and show disrespect for the President and Commander-in-Chief are two different things. It's disgusting how some Americans disrespect the President, no matter who it is- they ought to be ashamed of themselves.

the racists at the Hindu Times wryly note The Once's telepromptage...

[rquoter]It will be a 20-minute speech at Parliament House's Central Hall that has been witness to some historic events, including first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru's "tryst with destiny" speech when India became independent.

Obama will make history for more than one reason during the Nov 6-9 visit. This will be the first time a teleprompter will be used in the nearly 100-feet high dome-shaped hall that has portraits of eminent national leaders adorning its walls.

Indian politicians are known for making impromptu long speeches and perhaps that is why some parliament officials, who did not wish to be named, sounded rather surprised with the idea of a teleprompter for Obama.

"We thought Obama is a trained orator and skilled in the art of mass address with his continuous eye contact," an official, who did not wish to be identified because of security restrictions, said.

Obama is known to captivate audiences with his one-liners that sound like extempore and his deep gaze. But few in India know that the US president always carries the teleprompter with him wherever he speaks.

Teleprompters, also called autocue or telescript, are mostly used by TV anchors to read out texts scrolling on a screen and attached to a camera in front of them.[/rquoter]

you certainly did. you called anyone who criticized bush anti-american and accused them of wishing harm upon the troops.

we are still at war, but you are very critical of obama - dont you think that undermines the troops and emboldens "the terrorists"?

More proof that basso hasn't been sincere about anything he's said.

He's a troll without interest in debate or discussion.

Not sure what problems rightwingers have with Obama using a teleprompter when given a prepared/written speech. Is that suppose to mean he doesn't know crap without them?

Obama doesn't use them when doing press conferences or interviews with reporters (including those with Fox News) and manage to sound intelligent and well-versed with the issues. Meanwhile, right wing candidates, like Palin, Rand Paul and Angle, have repeatedly adopted media black outs and manage to sound like idiots when doing interviews.

Exactly. While to be polite we should but under the principles of this country the President isn't obligated to be respected.
