FYI, it doesn't work that way. A player with a team option that has not been exercised cannot be traded.

Dude looks like he has a pretty decent drop-step and can finish around the basket with either hand, which is a good sign.

Like everyone else is saying, it's whether he can play passable defense that is the real question.

But as always, IMWT - In Morey We Trust (tm)

Scola was just happy to get into the NBA, that's why he's making a low 3 mill. this guy on the other hand thinks he's too cool for that amount, so i wouldnt say he'd be happy just to get a uni and roster spot.

Marc Gasol was also a 2nd round pick, another crappy euro?

In my opinion, the rumour seems plausible, Pekovic is ready to contribute in the NBA right now, and the movement would fit with the Rockets philosophy at signing overlooked players.

Firstly, his game has nothing to do with Andersen's game. I've been saying all season that Andersen should be a PF in NBA, only center in certain situations. Pekovic is a pure center, he's very strong, can defend the low post and can score near the basket.

Pekovic has been the last 2 years and along with Splitter, the best center in European basketball. Splitter is surely the most versatile defensively, and maybe the better one playing the p&r (specially the roll). Pekovic is stronger and unique in Europe at establish the position inside (great lower body strength) and playing the 1on1. In this situation nobody could stop him in Europe this 2 years: he has the height, the strength, the athleticism (above average in Europe, just average in NBA) and the skills. Surely not the most brilliant man in his movements, but he's very direct, powerful and effective.

Defensively, he doesn't have Splitter feet and will have more problems with the p&r defense, but is a tough guy to fight with down the rim, and can mantain his man in 1on1. For sure will have his problems in the adaptation to NBA refereeing (fouls), like every rookie, but should be solved in a few months.

All in all, a 24 y.o. mature player, with the size and physical tools to compete in the league; a good skill level (jump-hooks with both hands, mid-range shots, layups/dunks), hardness, experience and post presence. He sets very solid screens, has a good feeling for the game and I'd say he's average at rebounding. I think he should be a nice backup in the NBA.

The 14th pick? The Wolves have already 3 1st round picks, so I doubt they ask for another one... Don't know what we would be giving, a future 1st round pick, a David Andersen, a 2nd round pick, a Chuck Hayes, a Jermaine Taylor, or maybe Llull's rights. Don't know.

Hopefully Al Jefferson is involved in the "draft day trade" with the rockets

From some of the videos and just by glancing over at his stats, he doesn't look like a shotblocker or above average rebounder.

That didn't stop Morey from buying picks and trading them before. We haven't had our own 2nd round draft picks in half the drafts that Morey has been here. It didn't stop them from buying and trading.

    His reb and block stats:

    2009/10 Euro- 21mins| 3.5rebs | 0.4blks
    2009/10 Greek- 16mins| 3.8rebs | 0.8blks

Do euro rebounding and blocks statistics translate better or worse in the NBA?? That doesn't look good.

Translates better, because there are fewer opportunities for rebounds due to fewer missed shots in euroleague. Think Scola.

I got to agree. My first blush assessment was a 7' Scola and that would be very nice for a backup center. He is just about the antithesis of Deke, but it would be nice to bring in a center with no loss in offense like Deke or Hayes. I doubt his defense is pitiful but if it was as good as his offense he would be a superstar overnight. We may even be able to have Yao back him up and bring in Yao for defense, haha.
