Depends on what exactly you're looking to find. I post on multiple boards so sometimes I come across these things.

You may be on to something. He may suck as a C, but as a backup PF he might be pretty adequate...

Or he may do well as a C for another team... I think that's what DD meant

Now the rumor has reached other basketball sites. I believe i just read it on Hoopsworld or NBADRAFT.net. Anyway the rumor states that it would include the #14 pick in the deal for Pekovic and maybe #23.

It's too bad those other sites don't stick to provable information like we do.

Well, I only watch the NBA and NCAA and am completely ignorant when it comes to Euro ball. And I've explicitly stated that I've never seen Pekovic play, so I'm not assuming he'll be as good as anyone. Please don't take my post as an endorsement of him.

I just hate it when people write off players for certain characteristics when there are several different ways to succeed in the NBA. Our whole team is made up of physically undesirable players like the tiny Aaron Brooks, skinny Kevin Martin, and short and stocky Chuckwagon. Now we're going to complain that a guy relies too much on his size and strength? I think the main problem is that many people assume that Europeans can't be physical. Cole Aldrich relies so heavily on his physical advantage, but most people assume he'll be in the lottery.

The Polish Hammer had a pretty good season last year. This year he had a lot of ugly moments. I'd still like to have him as Yao's backup. He doesn't have Gasol's post game, but he's shown to be effective as a finisher around the basket and on PnR's and has decent defense. If Pekovic is on Gortat's level he's certainly worth the 14th pick.

Don't you hate it when rumors die out before they are actually proven false? Seeing that Tiago Splitter wants to come to the NBA got me to thinking about the Pekovic rumor, which is still in the air as far as validity goes. Two days after this was labeled as total fiction, i see it pop up on another basketball site(nbadraft.net). If it wasn't for the fact that the 14th pick was mentioned, i would be able to let it go, but in my mind the 14th is already going to Minny for the 23rd. I guess what my question would be is what if this is the case and we end up with the 23rd pick instead? How do we go about trading up then? :(

just because a rumor shows up on another site does not give the initial rumor validity. The only way the inital rumor gets validity here is for a actual news report to be linked...not a blog, not realGM and not a random poster's blog on blogspot.

I know you are new, but you should know by now we require more than that to label a rumor as valid.

If the site you claim to saw it on has an actual link to back it up, feel free to put it here....if not, then quit going on about it like it is anything but a load of crap.

I've tried to get a better translation but this is as good as I'm going to get.

Basically here is what is happening:

-Minny has made Pekovic offers of $9 million for 3 years and then $15 million for 3 years.
-Pekovic's agent has rejected both offers
-Pekovic wants more than the MLE
-Minny refuses to offer more than the MLE
-Pekovic's agent wants Pek's rights traded to the Rockets (not sure how much Daryl will pay him)

If this guy is anywhere near Scola's skillset, he deserves the MLE. This would be the contention move that i have been talking about. ;)

Which would not make any sense as the Rockets are limited to the MLE. Pekovic isn't even worth that much in Europe.

It appears to be a week old (22nd) article from a Greek soccer news website?

Rockets can't offer him NOTHING right now, as the Wolves hold his rights.

    http://thehoopsmarket.blogspot.com/2010/06/minnesota-timberwolves-could-have.html

Nikola Pekovic will have to decide his future before July 15th. The 24-year-old Montenegrin center could opt out of his contract with Panathinaikos, paying $1 million to the Greek club, and move to the NBA. According to the Greek media, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team that own his NBA rights, would have offered a $15 million, 3-year contract to land Pekovic next season.
