In this situation, I have to root for my SEC brethren. Meh...I rarely buy this 'flying under the radar' stuff. It's not like Auburn has no idea who they're playing. "Who are we playing again, coach? I've been reading ESPN and they only talk about us." Each team has had a whole month of preparation. The coaches scheme, the players practice, everyone tries to peak at game time. That's all that matters, not the media coverage.
Great article about Ducks QB Darron Thomas and his Houston roots on ESPN http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowls10/news/story?id=5995924
usually i'd agree with this but given Oregon's system, the extra time should allow Aurburn's defense to adjust and certainly be more prepared to handle what's coming at them...especially in terms of defensive audibles/substitutions etc. whether or not that will make a difference in the outcome...we will see As for Oregon "flying under the radar"...i havent got that vibe at all. Sure, they might try to use that rhetoric as motivation but that doesnt mean it's true.
I still don't have a good feel for this game. Seems to me like Auburn is the team of destiny, but I'm pulling for Oregon. Cam Newton and Nick Fairley are the best offensive and defensive players and they both play for Auburn. But Auburn's defense is so pathetic I can't see them containing Oregon and I can see UO's offense completely blowing up on them. On the other side, I can see UO's defense possibly stepping up some in the 2nd half after they gauge Auburn's offense. IMO, the bellwether for the outcome is Darren Thomas. If he is locked in and plays great, I have no doubt at all UO will win and score 50-60 points. If he throws a couple of INTs and misses passes, Auburn can key on UO's ground game. My head and heart point to Oregon, but my gut says Auburn will win. It's Cam Newton's year.
Auburn 41 Oregon 38 Oregon's fast-paced, explosive offense is a joy to watch, but I'm eager to see how sophomore QB Darron Thomas responds to the speed rush off the edge. Auburn fields a different breed of athlete, and I'm not sure that Oregon's big nasties are going to be able to handle Chizik's front-4, especially Nick Fairley, for 60 minutes. Auburn's battle tested, physically imposing, and led by the Heisman trophy winner. My money's with the Tigers...
Agreed. Chris Fowler just dropped an absurd stat: Auburn has 4 double-digit comebacks this season. The program had a total of 5 in the 15 years prior to Cam Newton's arrival.
Ugly low scoring first half followed by a shootout in the second half. End result: Oregon 45 Auburn 38
Me too man. Its weird. I've seen both teams play plenty too. Can't even justify making a bet of any kind.
I look for the Auburn O-line to be the most dominant unit on the field tonight. If that is the case, they go on long drives, eat up clock, and keep Oregon's O off the field.
I think Auburn has got this, SEC has got them more battle tested than the PAC-10's Ducks. 41 Auburn 30 Oregon
This one is not going to be close, another blow to the legitimacy of the BCS and plus for the playoffs argument. Auburn will destroy the Ducks.
