Calling rudy gay one dimensional is far from truth. He's a good defender,good rebounder and a shot maker. Is he worth max? No, I never would've gave him max,but he's a good player. There is something to be said when a guy can take and make contested shots. Its strange how posters call a contract untradeable and then he gets traded.

It should also be pointed out that Rudy Gay's flaws aside...he IS better than Alan Anderson, Landry Fields, and Linas Kleiza. So it's not unreasonable to expect the Raptors to improve. That is, until you realize that Toronto is in the lux tax next season and I'm not even remotely certain that this team makes the playoffs next year. That's about as bad as you get when it comes to team building. It's sort of similar to Eric Gordon. Gordon hasn't actually been that great since he's returned from his injury, but the Hornets are better off because Gordon is far better than the epic fail of Austin Rivers.
I'd just like to point out that since Gay has been in Toronto he has increased his averages across the board. I don't think anybody could criticize any part of his game EXCEPT his shooting %. Other than that though, Gay has hit 2 game winners, he is averaging 23 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.4 assists. The guy would be a 24 per or better if he only increases his shooting %.
Great point, he would also be a better shooter if he hit more shots. He would also be a better defender if he was a better defender.
To be fair this is a legit way to get to Durant's level. I mean, I would believe what if he says Gay can outscore Durant if he gets 40 shots game.
My point was that in every area of basketball STATISTICS but shooting %, Gay excels in that area. My other point is that it makes YOUR argument about Gay seem petty by comparison. Constantly harping about his shooting % without recognizing all the areas that Gay helps a team INCLUDING winning games, is pretty petty.
Many NBA players can score 20 points if taking 20 shots per game. Many NBA players can grab 6 rebounds if playing 40 minutes per game. Gay isn't much of a passer and he's hit or miss on defense, though the talent is there to be great defensively.
Wow, 5 game sample size. Glad you made your point. Does this mean Jeremy Lin, who had PER of 20 for 35 games last season, is majorly better than your boy Conley?
Considering Gay was a 17.5 per his entire career before this season, and considering that he is now in an offense that uses his talents, I'd say Rudy's recent level of play has more teflon than Lin's 35 games as a knick. I see Gay's level of play improving rather than nosediving the more he plays with the raptors.
I'm sure 17.5 is more indicative of Gay than the past 5 games. His PER is higher over those games, because he's making more free throws and committing fewer turnovers.
