We moved from being the 14th pick to possibly the 8th seed. #progress

I think everyone would agree that we are a much better team than last year mainly because of Harden, even if the record doesn't yet reflect that fact due to youth and inexperience.

We have a superstar unlike what you thought you had in Rudy Gay. Yes he has turned around the Rockets.

No doubt. Everyone says we're overachieving this season but from watching the games it feels like we're underachieving.

This team is much better than last year's even if we end up with the 14th pick simply because there's cap flexibility and upside.

Pure ignorance if you don't believe the Rockets are in a much better place this year than last year because of Harden.

At least Harden's worth his salary. Rudy "Durant" Gay clearly isn't.

you guys bought: Asik, Lin and Harden for roughly 100 million dollars and all you got was 8th seed.

    Worth it:

What's funny is that I bet that if Memphis had Houston's roster, "what" would be making a thread in Dish right now stating that Harden is about to show the world he's on Kobe's level.

Or that if Memphis gets into the 2nd round this post-season, he'd pretend that he never did have a lovefest with Rudy Gay?

The Grizzlies are the Grizzlies, a pretty good team but still not good enough to be truly championship contenders as the Heat, Thunder, Spurs, and even Bulls are (once Rose returns to full strength this year or next).

I didn't think they'd have a chance to win a title before the Gay trade and do so even less now.

Rudy Gay for $82 million gave you 18 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists /36 minutes

Asik Lin, Harden for $100 million gives you 24-4-4, 13-4-7, and 12-14-1, for a combined 49-22-12/36 min.

Sure, I bet most people would rather have Gay.

Yep, Morey's moves were good. Just needs to find that 2nd star and consolidate the roster (rather than have eight power forwards).

Say what you want about Lin's contract, but Asik has definitely been worth 8 mil a year, and Harden is a 23 year old superstar. Much better than Rudy Gay has ever been already.

    Sarcasm?

Memphis has been "His" team since he was drafted. Sure they had Gasol and Conley, but everyone expected him to step up.

We pretty much had the same record last year. In fact we had a 95% chance of making the playoffs last year until lowry came back and we had that dive.

Until we have the 2nd superstar I don't know if we will be anything more than 6-8 seed or #14.

no i'm dead serious. He had way too much talent around him to be that productive. Zach needs the ball in his hands, at times so does Gasol. Conley is the point guard and brings the ball up. Gay gets the ball for game winners and such. Only player in their starting line up that didn't need the ball to be successful was and is tony allen.

Imo, Gay had to sacrifice a little bit for his teams success. His team started to gel this year and if they had gotten the chance, they could have made western conference finals if they got a deeper bench.

I understand that gay struggled at times but he is young also (26). Been in the Nba for 6 years. This second half of the season and next year is the year for him to really show case his talent.

And yes Harden is better and will end up being better.

Gay just needs to attack the basket a lot more. You can't really attack the basket when you have Zach and Gasol clogging up the paint and Allen can't shoot. Even conley and allen really couldn't attack all the way.

You're the worst troll on the planet. He bought the 8th seed THIS SEASON, along with the youngest roster in the NBA chock full of potential, cap flexibility, and the ability to grow and get better over time. Asik has been a rebounding REVELATION, and Harden just happens to be the most efficient scorer in the NBA this side of Kevin Durant. You know you're wrong....and if you don't, well then you're even dumber than any of us ever thought.

Lets pretend the Rudy Gay trade to Toronto never happned and lets pretend James Harden was on Memphis instead of Rudy Gay.

James Harden would instantly make the Grizzlies contenders. I might even pick the Grizzlies over the Clippers/OKC. If Memphis kept Gay they would probably get past the 1st round but there's no way they advance passed the 2nd round. There's not a single thing Rudy Gay does better than Harden and Harden would provide everything the Grizzlies need and are missing.

Ball handler to relieve Conley when he's off, ability to get to the hoop at will and draw fouls, ability to create his own shot and create buckets for Randolph and Gasol, ability to knock down the 3 pointer on a regular basis. Grizzlies would have no true weakness as they'd have go-to players inside (Gasol,Zbo) and outside and a closer in Harden. Plus with Tony Allen in the mix Harden can gamble more in the passing lanes (where he's most dangerous) and conserve energy for offense.

If you put Gay in place of Harden on the Rockets we would probably finish around 12th place.

I actually was supportive of what's stance on Rudy Gay. I didn't fully agree with him in terms of just HOW good Rudy Gay was, but I was with him as a Rudy Gay supporter over those who bash him constantly...

However...this dude has officially lost all credibility. Once he started talking about how Harden, Lin and Asik were bad deals yet Gay was just fine is simply asinine. He also fails to understand the value of youth, upside, and overall production, rather than just potential.

He also tried to make the argument that our deals "only got us an 8 seed", as if the guys we have don't equate to the youngest roster in the league, and as if we don't have a 23 year old who's already a Top 10 player in the entire league.

Dude is officially a troll. I still think Rudy Gay is a good player, and he is going to be a quality player for the Raptors, but what is officially off the deep end.
