Who is this guy? Let's be honest, this is the guy at one time you and me and most people on this board would like to have. Of course we want him cheap and not overpay him!
$34 million, evidently. While some teams fight it out for the top players in the league, there's this weird secondary market of mediocre teams giving out bad contracts to lousy players. I did not see this coming at all.
The kid in the cornrows back there. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pKqFg7Tuocg&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pKqFg7Tuocg&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
At this rate I should declare myself a free agent and some team will offer me 4 years and 18 million dollars
34 might be a tad expensive, but I don't think it's as bad as some of you are making it out to be. Obviously, u guys haven't seen him play much, but the kid is pretty damn good. Also he is only 23.
If he was pretty damn good, he would be a starter. If a scrub like Chuck Hayes can be a starter, then a "pretty damn good" player would be a starter.
Bosh + Bargnani. He's not gonna starting over a franchise player (arguable, I know) and a #1 draft pick. If Bosh leaves, Amir will flourish.
Wow it amazes me how Toronto keeps digging its own grave. Maybe we can offer a 2nd rd pick for a Bosh trade.
Amir Johnson is better than people realize. He just turned 23 and his averages per 36 minutes are pretty good. Career per 36 min 11.1 PPG 9.9 RPG 2.4 BPG 60% FG% He's the same age as Jordan Hill, with similar numbers, so considering its only an MLE contract, it's not a bad value move.
How about this guy: Career per 36 min: 7.4 Points 10.3 Rebounds 51.5% FG% 1.6 Steals(Johnson 1.9 Steals) 0.8 Blocks 5.1 Personal Fouls (Johnson 6.6 Personal Fouls) Turne 27 a couple weeks ago.
And why would you give Hill the MLE? Not to mention Johnson's been playing since high school, so he definitely should be developed of a player then Hill, whom is to a large degree your typical big man whom has potential. Johnson's played for five seasons. He is who he is, unlike Hill.
You guys are acting as if he got a monster deal, it's just a mid-level deal, an average salary for an average player, that's the cost of doing business in this league. To me paying Joe Johnson 20 million a year is a lot stupider.
