Actually OMEGA, from what I remember reading, was that we had the #1 (Akeem), and Portland offered us the #2 and Drexler (he was drafted the year before) for Sampson. Meaning we either have Akeem, Drexler, and Jordan... or we have Akeem, Drexler, and Barkley. Either way, that will go down as the biggest "what if" of all time! In my book.
What if the rockets would of made the Playoffs last season? What if Moochie Norris would of never came about? What if we didnt offer MoT, Kelvin Cato, and Moochie Norris such big contracts? What if we would of kept Shandon Anderson? What if Hakeem Olajuwon would of been traded in 92-93? What if the Rockets would of drafted Rashard Lewis instead of selecting Michael Dickerson, Bryce Drew, and Mirsad Turkan over him? What if SF would move to the 2? What if we traded cuttino mobley? What if Tim Duncan would play for the rockets and join with Yao Ming? What if donkeys wore Underwear? THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW?!?!?!?!?!?!
THAT MAKES NO SENSE??!?!!?!... unless SF did demand a trade.. but its not like we gave him up... Hell if i were Les i would rather be the starting PG myself than ever let Moochie take the staring role...
You guys gotta understand that Jordan can't be Jordan anywhere. It had to be with the bulls and how the situation played out. Just because the guy was good in one team doesn't necessarily mean that he will be just as good in another team.
Yes he was on fire that night and I guarantee you that shot would have gotten nothing but net if Hakeem hadn't blocked it. Thank God for Hakeem.
This is an interesting point. Does a player have to develop into a great player or if he was in another situation would he have been as good. Could Jordan only have been Jordan on the Bulls? Would Kobe be such a great player if he was on another team? I think there are some guys that have that something extra in basketball that can put them over the top. Kobe probably would not have won titles as soon as he did with the Lakers, but I doubt he would have been like a Jerry Stackhouse type of player.
What if Rudy never had cancer? Answer: We would have made the playoffs but been swept by the Spurs in the first round and we wouldn't have Jeff Van Gundy as our coach, or Patrick Ewing as our assistant coach... we'd have Larry Smith instead!
I think Dream was out for alot of that season with his blood clots or knee injury (don't remember). Our record was very mis-leading that season.
What if we had Dream,Clyde,Jordan on the same team as young players, would they devolpe the way they did or could they co-exist. We know Dream and Clyde could because of the UOH days but what about MJ He would have made the shot. Bill and Calvin did an interview after one of the rocket games and asked him that same question and he said it was DEFENITLY going in. It wasent clutchcity.net was created by Clutch He doesn't Bill does
How about this........ On the Eve of 1984 draft......... "Rockets trade their last year's #1 overall pick and Rookie of the Year Ralph Sampson to the Portland Trailblazers for the Blazers 2nd overall draft pick this year and their 1st round pick(14th overall) last year, Clyde Drexler." Dream, Glide and MJ.....And with Portland going for size anyway, They would have done is anyway..... But now, and maybe forever...the Blazers are cursed. Call it the "Curse of the Sam-bino". Just like the Red Sox will never win until Bill Buckner's body is sacrificed at 1st base at Fenway, the Jail Blazers will never win until Sam Bowie is sacrificed at the Rose Garden. This way everyone wins.....well actually..just the Rockets..and they keep winning and keep winning. That is a dynasty!!!!!
Even if Jordan developed into 80% of what he did with the Bulls, together with Dream and Clyde, we'd be a dynasty for a decade and a half. Red Auerbach's Celtics can move over.
what if LHutz came back? what if Mr.T came back? what if abominable snowmen stopped posting? what if the bbs had a spell check? what if irregardless was a word?
