I was such a fan of James Garner when I was a kid that I wrote him a letter and received an autographed black-and-white photo of him (wearing ugly houndstooth blazer that basically scarred my retinas at an early age) in the mail as a reply.

I loved how he kicked ass in the Rockford Files.

By the way, James Garner would never post drunk.

J-heath! You came out of hybernation for this? I am honored, and touched at your concern. Couple of points:

    1) I actually don't drink all that much...last night was the first time in weeks.

    2) While last night was in fact alchohol, often when I say drunk I am in fact inhebriated on other, more organic substances, and sometimes sleeping pills. That's what happens when you live in a house of cool university age chicks. I can't even roll, myself. But this isn't really a party house, more of a home atmosphere...it's usually just us, and maybe one or two girlfriends of rooomies who are here inbibing. In all areas, weed, booze, etc. I am hardly a regular user..I go through periods of using a lot ( for me...like toking 4 or 5 times in a two week period), and long periods where I don't take any...

Ever see the show Maverick? Used to watch re-runs with my granfather when I was a tike...loved it.

Are you saying that mu occassional drunk post lowers me on the cool scale relative to James Garner? :D

Mrs. JB...wasn't he a good looking guy when he was younger? Great Escape, Maverick era...I think by the time he was doing Rockford he was in his mid to late 40s...

I don't know, he's a little rugged looking for my taste. Plus he's got a disturbing Brillo pad thing going on with his hair. One older actor that I do think was very attractive in his younger years was Larry Hagman. He was pretty hot during the "I Dream of Genie" years. By the time he reached "Dallas" though, the magic was gone.

Nah..HP is cool. This was more to do with his seeming omnipotence/omniscience re: stuff he can find out via computer, anf the vague maleavolence that could permit, sort of Big Brotherish...and implying that he had me under his control. HP is among the better posters in this BBS, IMO, and I wouldn't have joked about him if I didn't think he was cool enough to get it...Same goes with everyone I mentioned. Even heathie...one of the few things I have admired about Heathis, and it's a biggie, is that he has shown the ability to laugh at himself when politics is not the issue. That, to me, is one of the best things I can say about someone else.

Cool, but I wonder if you aren't thinking of JG later on, when he did get sort of weathered. Back in the up to Great Escape time, he was pretty polished looking.

Hagman I don't get...looks smarmy to me...Now Genie herself had a bod that was working, even though her naval was outlawed...

The young James Garner is not good looking.

If Joe53/7 was still around, he'd even let you know that T.J. Kidd is better looking than that.

I guess it's a matter what you consider good looking One thing is, to me there are almost no actually good looking guys around, in terms of movie stars, these days, whereas there are tons of hot women. Ok, maybe I'm biased, but I'm not one of those guys who can't see that any guy is good looking. But to me most of the stars I consider good looking were from days gone by...Newman, Dean, Clift, Burton, even Warren Beatty when he was younger...Brando, O'Toole, Redford, Connery, etc. Thses were good looking guys...today there are very few, IMO.

A lot of the guys considered good looking these days...Affleck, Hartnett, Ledger, Cruise, O'Donnell, Damon, etc. are either ugly, goofy looking, or the kind of guy you see 50 times a day.

Why do you type on the message board when you have girls around...don't they tell you you are total geek for doing that? :)

"Ah, nothing like feeling the ocean breeze in me old brillo pad. Arrrr!"

By the way, if you want to hear the theme music, try this.

LOL..Yeah, sometimes...they sort of understand, though...It's kind of like getting my infusion of male bonding without having to leave the house...Seriously, and I know this sounds weird, but I've lived with a lot of women for years now, and it has it's ups...but it also has it's downs, and a lot fo it is just the kind of basic conversation tpoics that not many women I know debate...sports, to a degree politics, but even politics isn't the kind of thing you can rap about on a daily basis with roommates...

Also...I tend to type on here during certain periods...just before/after working out, early in the AM or before bed...and am often doing other things, watching a game, reading, etc. while doing it. So it isn't actually all that time consuming...

But, yeah, when I leave them drinking, etc., and run up to my room to post something, they comment...There is a semi-running joke about certain things; They'll pretend to talk basketball so i won't leave...they'll joke flirt and ask if any of you guys can do that for me...etc. But it's all lighthearted...oh, and they wanted me to reiterate that they weren't being b****y last night...they were just joking, and a little drunk too...I don't think that they sadi anything bad, but Michelle asked me today if you guys now think that they're all b****es, so i guess it might have seemed that way.

I agree. But, without getting into the mind of the supposed inner gay male, I believe this has to do with the zero possibility of connecting us to said actors, sexually. Or, it is the Darwinism in us that immediately casts us as the strongest, the best looking, the best mate. The aforementioned actors due to our probable innate and unrecognized ageism dismisses them as potential competitors in the hunt. Hence, we are able to allow ourselves to put down our guard and recognize that someone is good looking. But, then you end up where you started - wondering if you yourself, would like to take it in the pooper.

Yes, I agree. I'm way better looking, a better mate, and stronger than these average joes.

No, he's a good looking guy...so is Pitt at times...and there are other guys, like Clive Owen, or Owen Wilson who aren't good looking, but have a certain charisma...and the thing I appreciate most about Depp, Law, and to a degee Pitt is that they don't rely on their looks...Depp in particular has no problem being made to look weird. I didn't say there are none...just not that many, and many of those considered good looking aren't.

All is forgiven if her picture is posted. :)

Hopefully one where she pretends she's a blue dressed Alizee.
