LOL! In all seriousness, what did you find redeeming about the Scorpion King? It was a glorified WWF skit. TERRIBLE!!!
First off, this movie was never intended to be Oscar-worthy. With that in mind, yes, there were a many catchphrases AND an abundance of fight scenes AND the plot doesn't quite jell with the other Mummy series AND other general cheesiness, but you watch it to see the ROCK KICK ASS. (Hey, that was probably an alternative title at some point.) There were interesting characters and the plot while I'll reiterate didn't fit with the rest of the Mummy series (this was supposed to predate the first Mummy), was good. It was funny too. I give it a thumbs up.
I don't understand. What's wrong with a comedic drama? Can it only be one or the other? I love movies that can stir a range of different emotions. And I didn't think About Schmidt "tried to be" anything. In fact, I though it was pretty understated and almost totally devoid of any pretense whatsoever. If the "drama" didn't have any effect on you, then I can understand why you wouldn't like it, but it had a completely opposite effect on me.
A movie is either a drama or a comedy. One can have elements of the other but they can't be both. This movie IMHO was just jumbled and undefined. You don't know whether to take the characters seriously or just laugh them off. Plus about an hour of the movie is just a waste. What the heck was that trailer park scene about? That was just dumb.
Death to Smoochy(requires a warped sense of humor) Frailty Insomnia Two Towers Gangs of New York No particular order, those are just what comes to mind immediatedly.
Action films can be good and not be Oscar worthy. The action scenes sucked and actually looked just like wrestling. Even in an action role the Rock was terrible. It was beyond cheesy but that's just my op in ion. I was disgusted that I actually paid to see it.
