How about letting me do the movie reviews with you. I could be Siskel to your Ebert.

Ok. I'll be Roper then. It still works out in the end, you see.

Forecast for tomorrow: A few sprinkles of genius... with a chance of DOOM!

That was the highest grossing independent film of all time. Over 220 million and it was never #1 at the box office, only cost 5 million to make. Seems interesting but I will wait for rental. Same for "City by the Sea."

    It's like technology vs. horse.

BTW About Schmidt was an amazing film.

My top five movies 0f 2002 (that I actually saw, and I didn't see that many, unfortunately...)

    1. About a Boy
    2. LOTR: The Two Towers
    3. Gosford Park (does this even qualify?)
    4. Minority Report
    5. Spider-Man

Keep in mind that I haven't seen Chicago, Catch Me If You Can, Adaption, Gangs of New York, About Schmidt, Far From Heaven, The Hours, or My Big Fat Greek Wedding... yet. (I was on vacation.)

    My 2002 Awards
    Biggest Surprise: About a Boy
Biggest Letdown: Signs (but it was a decent movie)
Most Epic Movie: LOTR: The Two Towers
    Best Animated Movie: Ice Age
Movies I Was Too Lazy To See: The Bourne Identity (great book!), Reign of Fire, Lilo & Stitch, The Ring, Undercover Brother
Best Sequel: Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets (LOTR: TTT is considered part of one very long story)
Worst Sequel: Austin Powers in Goldmember
Worst Movie I Saw All Year: The Time Machine
2nd Worst Movie I Saw All Year: xXx
The Could've-Should've-Would've Award: Star Wars: Attack of the Clones
The "Meh" Award (for achievement in mediocrity): The Count of Monte Cristo
The "I Didn't Have To See This To Know It Sucked Monkey Balls" Award: Juwanna Man
Best Movie My Girl Dragged Me To See: The Importance of Being Earnest

I'm surprised you found it amazing. I'm a huge Nicholson fan and I was pretty disappointed. It was just all over the place and had an underwhelming ending. There just didn't seem like a long enough journey from beginning to end to justify the ending IMHO. It was supposed to be dramatic but it left me just asking, that's it? Damn you Jack!

Why are you surprised? Do we ever agree? :D

I dunno...I really liked the narration part. Very clever and original. Did you like Election?

Yeah I liked Election, it didn't try to be a comedic drama like About Schmidt. We agree a lot sometimes, Thursdays between 10am and 1pm particularly. :)

You are dead on with this one. I couldn't believe what a bomb that turned out to be. Once a good movie like Men In Black was the first time out tries tinkering with the characters the second time around you know it's going nowhere fast.

It was like watching Lethal Weapon 4 with Chris Rock. Totally not funny.

    Watch Scorpion King though....good flick.

LMAO!!! That's like the funniest post in a while. Talks about MIB II and then props a total stinker like the Scorpion King.
