Wait, you are saying "pssssst, don't tell them this guy is crazy, let them believe he is a progressive peace advocate"?
No, I'm saying: Mathloom's oft stated antipathy for the Saudi regime and all things Saudi could color his perception. For all I know the Saudi guy is bat**** crazy. What he said is a good message. I'm not as consumed with this particular subject as some on this board.
Why delay the inevitable? I do have a certain disdain for Saudi clerics, but who wouldn't? That doesn't stop me from being a big fan of several Saudi clerics. If there's one thing I've learned about clerics, it's that as long as I can respect their beliefs, I don't have to like them. In this case, the guy is not worthy of respect, and I really can't allow this thread to swirl into the internet universe knowing that maybe some time in the distant future, someone might find this thread on google and fall under the impression that the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia is a good guy. I can't do it captain. I just can't do it. Too many 10 yr olds are being raped as we speak because of this guy's signature on a piece of paper saying that it's ok.
Is this a good thing or not? After reading this thread, and hearing some of the other things this guy has said...I am not sure he is serious. DD
Agreed. I've always respected your opinion on these subjects and my post was not meant to be argumentative, but rather an acknowledgment of potential bias coloring perceptions. You've clarified it for me and I'll take your word for it that this Grand Poofta is a dip.
