The Shins play melodic, tight pop. Nothing to earth-shattering, nothing innovative (though they have some cool chord changes). The singer gets a lot of comparisons to Brian Wilson--at times he sounds just like him. Just tasteful, clean (tonally) pop/rock with great hooks and ambiguous lyrics (which I like). Chutes Too Narrow is defintely worth a listen. If you've heard and liked Electric Version, you'll like Chutes.

Freak, What did you think about that Jet CD?? I am looking at it getting it soon. In your opinion, who do they sound like that I would be more familiar with?
Manny: They sound like Bon Scott era AC/DC, mixed with some Stones, even a little 70s glam, except not as good.
Ah, I see. Thanks for the response. Will probably buy their latest next month as I have already bought my quota for this month!
Taken in its totality: the stage show, the story, the back story, the Dublin show, the message, and the music... Neil Young - Greendale
OK, I definitely will check them out soon. Beulah: Thanks for the the tip - "When your heartstrings breaks" is the only one I got and its very nice.

Been awhile since I spun "Elephant" by White Stripes but I listened to it this morning and I think it is better than "White Blood Cells".
Speakerboxx Get Rich or Die Trying The other albums I enjoyed this past year are actually slightly older releases such as Coldplay and Portishead.
Dude, apparently he's got a whole new band and a new name. Hasn't been announced yet. I'll be pissed if Tim's (the guitarist) gone.
