Take the Admiral off your list. Dude played Shaq, with Shaq in his prime, straight up; and won two championships going through him. There's many more anecdotes to prove you wrong, but that alone should be enough.
DR is kinda soft, but not totally. Just because he rode TD for a couple of rings--doesn't prove he isn't soft. Any list with "AI" and soft makes no sense. There has been no fiercer and tougher 6 foot guy since maybe Isiah. Dirk's softness is overblown here. He isn't Gasol, Smits, or Tim Thomas soft. Dirk rebounds hard and makes big shots in pressure situations. Can't honestly say Dirk is softer than Tmac. In some ways Amare is soft. He is soft as an individual low post defender, and hit and miss in terms of intensity and rebounding. He is someone who isn't as a consistent dominant presence as his skills and attributes should make him. Among stars to near stars, in addition to Tmac and Carter, how about Ray Allen, Joe Johnson, Michael Redd, Dunleavy, Marcus Camby & Kirilenko. The last 2 may surprise people because they rack up rebounds and blocks--but also get the impression they are inconsistent in effort and get pushed around in individual match-ups you would think based on their skills they would fair better. For some B/C type players, Tim Thomas, Croshere, KVH, Damon Jones and Brent Barry immediately come to mind as marsh mellow soft.

How about Rasheed Wallaceor Chris Bosh? They're the type of player who isnt consistently dominant but he has all the skills to be, like Tmac or Carter, but I dont know if I would call those players soft. Soft to me is not neccessarily wilting under pressure, I think its not even trying in anyway like shying away from the ball at crucial moments. Agent zero has choked at times but its a different kinda choke because he actually tried. Then you got Tmac who if he settling for jumpshots, he is labeled soft because he chooses to try to win his way, but at least he tries. Same goes for Dirk. Whenever those guys actually pull out a win their way, then they are labeled clutch On the other hand, I could see them labeled soft if they fail every single time it really matters like game sevens or do or die games like Tmac has, but like they say this is a team sport. The last time Dwayne Wade was eliminated out of the playoffs, I dont think I heard anyone saying he was soft because he didnt come thru. If the players team needs to score whether its because the game is on the line or the other team is on a run and he puts the burden on himself instead of wanting someone else to do it, then to me that player is the exactly the opposite of soft.I cant really think of anyone who really is soft according to my definition of it.
Does it count if I spent five hours in jail for bouncing a check to Domino's when I was in my early 20s? Back to the topic, one very overlooked component of "softness" is the team that surrounds the player in question. Scottie Pippen was unquestionably soft in many ways, but on that Bulls team WITH Jordan, he was rock solid. Another example: If someone had posted this same question LAST year at this time, I'll bet Paul Pierce would've shown up in a lot of the responses.
Kwame Brown is softer than tissue paper. All Michael Jordan did was call him a p_ssy in practice and his career unraveled.
Maybe Yao, he isn't soft but he's not enough agressive, TMac partially, it depends on which game are Rockets playing and thats it. But Dirk is soft, thats for sure and Devin Harris also.
