Born and raised in Houston, but haven't been back in seven years.

    pros
    1.) cost of living
2.) easy to get where you're going by freeway
3.) lots of different eats, clubs and groceries
4.) flat so easy to ride bikes anywhere
5.) pretty good small business climate
6.) lots of sun if you're outdoors
    7.) pro sports
8.) not too far from the beach
    9.) some good museums

    cons
1.) roaches everywhere indoors - if you live in an apartment it's almost impossible to avoid
    2.) mosquitoes almost everywhere outdoors
3.) two weeks of freezing weather
4.) nine months of hot and very humid weather
5.) traffic in certain areas and times is among worst in nation
6.) flat so it's boring to ride bikes anywhere after a while
    7.) more rainfall than Seattle
8.) metropolitan Houston stretches so far that one could live 75-100 miles away from someone you meet downtown.
9.) the chemical plants on the east and southeast side
