I like this idea, but have some problems with your ratings:

    1) Wade at 99, if you turn health on, Wade's health rating would be a 70, he can't be 99.
    2) Howard 98, he's at most an 80 on offense, he can get 99 on defense and rebounds, but an 80 on offense takes him down

Not to be an a$$hole but basketball is a TEAM game.

Even the almighty Kobe Bryant led the lakers to 34-48 record in 04-05 season!

You're not a *******, i'm just going by the criteria people on this board uses when they include top players. Not you, but for years a guy has been called a loser because his team sucks. Hell, you can look at the the grief Gay gets because his team hasnt won, but hes a really good player. I've said before that I like Durant and his skill set, but if you're a top 10 player, you have to be able to get your team to .500. He has won 23 and 24 games in 2 years on a sonics team. When roy went to the blazers, they got rid of their best player( randolph) in exchange for 2 unproductive players in francis and frye and they won 41 games his 2nd yr. The next year his team won 50+. Not to mention, someone put him ahead of Williams who is probably 1 or 1a as a pg. Durant isnt anywhere that close as a sf.

the top four are obvious choice. the #5 spot is up for grabs. and I think Dwight Howard makes it because of his impact on defense and the attention he draws on offense.

    1) LeBron
    2) Kobe
    3) Wade
    4) Howard
    5) Paul

Durant, Dirk, Roy are all lurking around too.

Duncan, despite his enormous value to the Spurs, probably isn't their best player anymore so it's a little difficult for me to rank him ahead of any of those other guys.

Kobe over Lebron anyday. I call it defense, finesse and clutch.

This thread shows that there are a few quality big men left in the league. Base on the rankings of the posters here only Howard was mentioned in a number of post. Gone were the days that Dominant big men like Dream, Ewing, Robinson, Shaq occupied people's top 5 list.

Seems like most forget about KG. If not for his injury, we could be seeing a 2peat instead of LA glory.

#1. Kobe, after going to the NBA finals losing in six to the Celtics, followed by going to Beijing to help win the gold for the US, then going to do what he did last year winning it all, Kobe deserves to be #1 going into the season.

#2. Lebron. Defending MVP has still only scratched the surface. Scary Good. He has shown that the can win against the bad teams, but not the teams that push him around. He got an aging Shaq on his side this year to help in that area, but this is a big, big, big year for 'the chosen one' and has much to prove when it counts.

#3. DWade. IMO out of the top 3, I would most likely want him to have the ball in his hands with time running out.

#4. 'Melo. see LeBron, sans the MVP, but he has the potential to become MVP...If he can keep it all together upstairs....if..

#5. Dwight Howard. Otis Thorpe on 'roids. A man that big and strong shouldn't be able to move like that. If he improves his offensive game, he easily could move up to #1.

There is not doubt that Kobe is not better than either Lebron or Wade based on his performance over 82 games. I still like him as the best player in the game in clutch situations but he cannot carry a team (anymore) like Lebron or Wade can.

    Lebron
    Wade
    Kobe
    Roy
    Paul

    1. Kobe
    2. LeBron
    3. Wade
    4. Paul
    5. Duncan

That's how it is currently, when all of them are healthy. In my opinion, you could easily argue Dirk, Yao or Dwight for #5, but given the fact that Yao is injured and not playing next season, you can't. I give it to Duncan, simply because when he is healthy no big man is as complete as he is. The only player that comes close to his all-around game is Yao.

Gay is not an all-star caliber player. He is a good player but he isn't even the best player on his team.

I'm with you here. Dwight Howard is just a glorified defensive specialist in my opinion, He impacts the game in a great amount of ways than any other big man in the NBA. However, his pathetic offensive game and lack of skill really makes it hard for me to put him in the Top 5, and don't make me mention his Low-IQ.

In my opinion, Dwight does things a center does better than any other big man which includes rebounding and blocking shots. However, as a player scoring and offense is involved and those are Dwight's biggest weakness. In my opinion, Dwight is the 3rd best big in the NBA behind Yao and Duncan. However, if you don't grant Yao and Duncan health, Dwight would be the best big in the game and he probably would be a Top 5 player.

    1. Yi Jianlian (too beast in general)
    2. Chris Andersen (too beast for white guy, hair is +1)
    3. Zach Randolph (awesome for fantasy, can move while fat)
    4. Rudy Fernandez (scored 5 pts in like 1 second)
    5. Erik Dampier (he said he #2 center next to shaq, but now shaq sucks so he is #1 and yao has 1 leg)

    9999999. Kobe ( betch)
