That's alright...I know none of those albums have had great critical acclaim or whatever...but there hasn't been a day that's gone by where i havnt listened to at least part of my #1 CD in probably a couple of years...I love it that much. As for the New Radicals, I know they (he) will go down as a one hit wonder...But that is really one of the best CDs I've heard. If I'm down and out, I just put that CD on, and it's message is so positive without being so preachy, it really helps lift my mood. I don't really love Kid Rock as much as I use to, but there isnt a filler on that CD, which is rare in today's world.
Gosh, for a brief moment I wasn't recognizing any of the Title/Band in this thread until I read yours. Leon Redbone!!! Wow, one of my favorite style singers. Ok, my top 5 in no certain order or permanence: (this week I'm rockin') Littlefeat/Waiting for Columbus Emerson Lake & Palmer/Trilogy Yes/Close to the Edge T.Rex/Electric Warrior Woodstock Of course, next week I could be singing my favorite torch songs. Who knows... RR
Wow, only five. Miles Davis - "Kind Of Blue" Buddy Rich - "Best Of Buddy Rich, the Pacific Years" Miles Davis - "Four & More/My Funny Valentine" Barenaked Ladies - "Gordon" Beach Boys - "Pet Sounds" With an honorable mention list of at least 20 more.

I take it you are a grunge fan. That is my favorite type of rock music. Good call on the New Order CD. Substance is one of the greatest, maybe greatest, dance CDs of all-time!
soundgarden - down on the upside daft punk - discovery radiohead - the bends gorillaz NIN - the fragile
No particular order: Linkin Park-Hybrid Theory Dave Matthews-Crash Depeche Mode-The singles 86-98 Third Eye Blind-debut title Bloodhound Gang-Hooray for Boobies *Question*- I have Amnesiac by radiohead and have never heard OK Computer. Those of you who have placed it as your all time favorite, can u tell me y it so good. Thanks
OK Computer is so different from Amnesiac that some people would probably have a hard time recognizing it as the same band. really, Radiohead has done that a lot. each of their 5 studio albums have a very distinct sound to them. my friends and I get in arguments all the time about which is better, OK Computer or The Bends. we usually agree that the individual songs on The Bends might be a little stronger, but that OK Computer is stronger when listened to as a continuous album. the biggest and easiest differences to cite between OKC and Amnesiac would be: 1- OK Computer is way, way, way more guitar-driven than Amnesiac. 2- I think the songs are probably a little more melodic and singable on OK Computer also. to me, OK Computer was kind of like Radiohead arriving at the end of an experimental journey that began on Pablo Honey and continued on The Bends. after OK Computer, it's like they started on a whole new journey with Kid A and continued it on Amnesiac. for whatever else it's worth, Amnesiac is my least favorite of the 5 records. my personal Radiohead order would be: 1 - OK Computer 2 - The Bends 3 - Kid A 4 - Pablo Honey 5 - Amnesiac if Amnesiac was your first radiohead record, you might end up liking it best. I say that just because that's usually how it goes for me. . . whatever I hear first is usually what I like best.
2Pac - All Eyez on Me Boyz II Men - II Metallica - Metallica Guns 'n Roses - Appetite for Destruction DMX - It's Dark and Hell is Hot
Frank, Dean, and Sammy - Live at the Summit Creed - Human Clay John Coltrane - Blue Train Miles Davis - Kind of Blue Nina Simone - Any I'm listening to Kind of Blue right now.
Gascon, Are you my brother-in-law? It sure looks like it. Anyway, my original list represented my old rocker days. If I had been listening to my torch side when I first came across this thread, John Coltrane/Johnny Hartman would've topped my list. This is an excellent CD. True, it only has 6 songs, but their combined effort is fabulous. I don't know if you're into torch with a latin beat, but Frank & Carlos Jobin had a great album too.
I'll exclude my live concerts that were not commercially released. 1. Dave Matthews Band - Live at Red Rocks 2. Ben Harper - Live from Mars 3. Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Live Art 4. Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds - Live at Luther College 5. Keb' Mo - Just like You Runner up: Devon - Devon
You guessed it correctly! I am a huge grunge fan. One question to you, is it me, or am I the only person who finds MTV horrible entertainment?
No, it is not you. MTV is pitiful. I never watch it anymore. If I watch any music channel, it's VH-1. Most of the time, I just play my CDs. I don't give a rat's ass about The Real World or Road Rules or any of that other idiotic stuff. I grew up when MTV first came on the air, and I remember it being videos 24-7. Ah, those were the days!
Hmmm, top 5 CDs. Well, to be literal to the topic, I will list what I consider are 5 of the best albums from start to finish. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon Miles Davis - Kind of Blue Massive Attack- Mezzanine Radiohead - OK Computer Jane's Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual Honorable Mentions: Jimi Hendrix Experience - Axis: Bold as Love The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground and Nico Led Zepellin - Led Zepellin IV Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath Peter Gabriel - Passion Charles Mingus - The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady Curtis Mayfield - Superfly There are many albums that I listen to (though not in their entirety) more frequently than these. In terms of a complete work, however, I think these are unique. Not only are all (or in the case of the HMs, nearly all) the songs good, but they've been put in just the right order. There's an ebb and flow to these albums that keeps you from getting tired or (worse) bored.
