No. I do not believe that Rondo, Arenas, and Parker are clearly better than Brooks. Rondo gets to play with big time scorers, and is the 5th option on his own team. Hes not spoonfeeding his teammates points, his teammates are spoonfeeding HIM assists and wide open shots. Arenas....have you seen him play this year? Hes been terrible. Parker has durability issues, at this point we dont know how good hell be when he gets back. You wouldnt say Yao is better than Howard right now, would you?
Just out of the second tier... and these tiers only have 5 per so that's pretty good. Scoring wise he's pretty close if not at the top. He's starting to show his playmaking abilities so can't really rag on him for that anymore. Can't see the Rockets getting any other PG close if we were to trade him away.
Okay that is a fair statement. They are not clearly better than AB. But here is why I would take them over AB: Rondo- defense to go along with decision making (not a big Rondo fan but can't deny the job he has been doing. People say it is easy with multiple HOFers but u still need somebody who can distribute the ball to them and he has been getting the job done). Arenas- he has not really gotten the chance to play this year. Previous to this year, his name was fairly consistently mentioned with the top PGs in the league. Parker- I think Yao was better than Howard before he went down (overall. Howard being the better shot-blocker and rebounder, Yao being the better everything else). No idea if that statement will still hold after Yao gets back. If Yao can recover, then I am pretty confident he is better than Howard but it is not fair to say anything until he gets back. I don't think it is fair to say Howard is a better basketball player because Yao is out. So yes, I would say Parker is a better point guard right now unless the injuries cause him to show otherwsie.
There seems to be a disagreement on where Brooks ranks, but everybody seems to agree that he is not in the top 5.
+1. Therefore Drexler is a homer. This league is becoming a guards league. AB is very good but he just is not up there with the best of the best.
These lists are a joke. Where's Jameer Nelson? No Nate Robinson? You can't have a top 20 list without at least Rafer Alston and Jordan Farmar. Not to mention no Allen Iverson. Or even Sergio Rodriguez for that matter. And I know everybody likes to forget about Kirk Heinrich, but honestly, it should be a given are included in the top 20 conversation. And how everybody missed Gorgan Dragic is beyond me, but he's a no brainer as well. Plus, some serious consideration needs to be taken for Mike Conley, not to mention Carlos Arroyo. I mean seriously, it's a little ridiculous how no one even thought of Mario Chalmers now that I think about it.
How the heck are people still talking about Arenas like he is a top PG? The brother hasn't played much more then half a season of games in a culmination of his 3 seasons. No way should he be considered a top PG today. As for Brooks, considering this is his third year (which is where most players really come into their own), he is doing fine and is obviously in the top half of PGs in the league. Is he top five? Only if you limit it by them playing not being older or playing the number of years played in the NBA. But even with all the other PGs, based on the stats of this season, he is still a quality player that would get big bucks if he was a FA.
I already admitted me missing Nelson was an overlook but as for the other ones, are u serious or joking? Its top 20 not top 50. Hinrich plays SG, Iverson played (past tense) SG. Robinson, Alston, Farmar, Rodriguez, Arroyo, Chalmers, Dragic are all backups for a reason (well Arroyo is not but I he isn't that good).
The three I underlined in the second tier shouldn't be there. Also, Isn't Tyreke Evans a PG? Where is he? Can we count John Wall yet?
Miller is averaging 13.7 and 5.4, nothing great. Also Parker has been injured most of this season and Arenas obviously suspended. This year , Aaron is clearly better than these 3 so far.
He's not in the top 5 point guards yet, but I think he will be within the next couple of years at this rate.
No I'm not. Check the Drexlerisms thread. Though it may have been from a previous incarnation of it. I remember hearing him say that several times in the months before the 2008 all-star game.
this is the first time i'm posting this, but i've never been much of a brooks fan... he's a solid point guard but no way he is in the top 10, imo he's too streaky a shooter, too mistake-prone, chokes at the end of games especially on freethrows, and forgets to distribute the ball for long stretches his defense leaves a lot to be desired as well.....there was a 3 game stretch where tj ford, deron williams, and the rookie point guard collison from the hornets just lit him up like he was helpless i wouldn't mind him as a sparkplug off the bench, but i don't think he's our answer as a starter.
