Surprised thete's not more love for the Larry Sanders Show.

Portlandia has had a really solid start, but too young as of now.

For some reason, I never got into the Larry Sanders Show. But I was a big fan of It's Garry Shandling's Show and the Tracey Ullman Show (and the birth of the Simpsons) back in in the 80s.

Too many modern shows in this mix. I think people forget the history of television and just post what they most recently remember.

    In no particular order:

Carol Burnett Show - if you don't remember this show, there's a reason people still list it. The cast was mostly legends of comedy, and the guest stars were some of the biggest names in entertainment at the time.

South Park - No show has pushed boundaries quite like this one has. Trey Parker and Matt Stone should be enshrined in the TV Hall of Fame

SNL - Yes, it's had bad seasons. But it's also given us the Blues Brothers, Super Bass-o-Matic, More Cowbell, Shweaty Balls... the list could go on for days. Again, looking at the cast of the first season alone, powerhouse talent.

The Dick Van Dyke Show - So many jokes and moments from this show are still ripped off to this day. Just a funny, funny show with the BRILLIANT writing of Carl Reiner.

Cheers - great characters, great writing, great cast (that really stayed mostly unchanged, which is quite a feat). It's legendary, and deserves to be.

HONORABLE MENTION: I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, Night Court, All in the Family, Three's Company, Friends.

OVERRATED: Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, Larry Sanders, 30 Rock...Not saying these shows aren't funny, just not all-timers.

Even if you rewatch the best seasons of SNL (the late 90s), the hit/miss ratio on a sketch is like 1/8. Sure if you watch the 'best of' videos it is funny but that's not a fair assessment. I find Watching a regular episode of SNL unbearable no matter what the season.

    Arrested Development
    Seinfeld
    SGC2C
    Peep Show
    Blackadder

The League is the funniest show on television. I'm appalled it hasn't already been posted.

    South Park

    Family Guy (though it's declined)

O disagree, tv if far more competitive now which is leading to better programming. That is why more modern shows are listed

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Rocket River again.

Married with Children could have supplanted All in the Family and Seinfeld in terms of satire, social commentary and creative influence; and, given the bad blood on Roseanne, might have out-rated and out-lasted the latter show over the long haul. But Fox couldn't risk not utilizing Applegate or distinguishing the show's tone too drastically from the Simpsons or even In Living Color, that Sunday night had good enough advertising demos to ignore Emmys or overall ratings.

    Loved Night Court!
I think some of your Overrateds rely on pop cultural references that won't stand the test of time
