What is the "proven model"? You have gone out of your way to point out that the Rockets did not win a championship with JH (which was the result of the Lowry/KMart teams you reference above). Proven to do what, exactly? Personally, I really enjoyed the Harden years. It was nice to actually be a good team for a while.
But we pretty much don't own our pick this time unless we lose a lot (gives us a better chance of keeping the pick). That's the difference.
Those who advocate tanking are not happy about tanking. It's to get better faster. That's the difference. Eventually, with trades, picks, coaching changes, etc. we may get to be good again, but that route can take decades. It may take just a few years, or if it doesn't go right it can take DECADES. Whereas tanking, if it goes well, may take 2-3 years before we get to be one of the best.
CLE won - great result Minnesota should start winning more after the coaching change Pistons won A great, great night for us
Harden led a handful of championship caliber teams. This is a disingenuous, smartass question, and you know it. Championships take more than one player. Just watch how easily Harden will win it this year if the Nets stay healthy.
everyone thinks it’s Cade .... Jalen Suggs is special. So is Kuminga and I love Jalen Green!! I haven’t seen much from Mobley from USC , but apparently he is a better version of Bosh Time Will Tell!!! hopefully we get one of these 5 phenoms.
You look at the different teams that have won in the last decade: Lakers, Spurs, Cavs, Celtics, Heat, Warriors, Raptors, the common denominator is a star or star players. What's the quickest route to achieve a star player(s)? IMO it's via trade... Spurs drafted well (Duncan, Parker, GInobli), Warriors (Curry, Klay, Draymond) drafted well and both use cases resulted in multiple championships. You rarely see teams hit like this in a the draft any more. The remaining recent winner all won championships due to major trades. Given the draft capital we have, I think it's vital we really make sound trade moves to get that next fringe star (who needed a chance to prove his worth on his own or in a diff situation).... We'll see if Stone can repeat history, but I am not confident in the approach to tank, and rely on a lottery pick(s) to build a contender. Let other teams try that, use them for proven NBA players.
I just realized the Wolves are in a similar position to us but even worse. They're the absolute worst team in the league but GSW owns their pick and it's only top 3 protected compared to our 4. If they have the balls to tank so should we.
