You are severely underestimating Kai's explosiveness and ability to defend 1-5. His length, energy, explosiveness and elite defense are the elements comparable to Giannis. And not the playmaker Giannis is, but his 3ball is so much more advanced even at this stage. And I think you've forgotten how skinny Giannis was when he was drafted. And FYI - And even as unknown as Giannis was, I was screaming for Rockets to move up and draft him back then, the archives will support this. And I like Isaiah Jackson a lot too but his upside is not quite as high as Kai Jones.
Comparison of the pure Centers in this draft (as opposed to hybrid 4/5 like Garuba, Jones, Jackson). Side by side results were interesting as heck. 7'0 Mobley - 6'10 Sengun - 6'11 Sharpe - 6'11 Bassey - 7'0 Queta *Switched out Queta for Hukporti because I believe Queta is more deserving of top 5 comparison. *Very concerned about all the mock drafts showing Rockets taking Sharpe. He will be NBA career backup IMO. Rim protection is lackluster for 265 lbs center. Queta clearly has the best DRTG - rim protection monster and disruptive when defending perimeter. But Sengun was surprisingly the most disruptive defending perimeter. Sengun easily is the most polished offensively with even better ball skills than Mobley, and is only 18 (2 years younger than both Mobley and Bassey). Sengun - Bassey - Mobley have the highest upside offensively. Sharpe is most turnover prone, then Sengun. Only Sengun and Queta average over 3 AST however. Mobley and Bassey average the least TOS. Although Bassey AST:TOS has the largest negative differential. Mobley specializes in defending without committing fouls, no one is even close to him in this area. Sengun and Sharpe are very foul prone. http://www.tankathon.com/players/co...neemias-queta--day-ron-sharpe--alperen-sengun
Queta is smart, but I don't see him as worthy of a FRP. He doesn't move quick enough. No to Hukporti from me.
KJM's selection at 52 gives me hope that Stone will go for quickness and strength/ energy. KJM is only 6'6" or 6'7" but he can't be pushed around easily. I too hope that Day'Ron won't be picked over Bassey.
Some potential second round picks plus possible sliders out of the draft are giving me hope that we might be able to add really good talent. Lewis, Hyland, Sarr, Sims, Vernz, Badji . Add a couple of Exhibit 10 bigs plus Lewis and Bones in the 2nd round by trading the 24th pick. @ApacheWarrior
I don’t know about y’all but Mobley has to be on the radar. Size is returning in the league and players like Davis, Anton, Giannis are the reason. we need a mobile big that can’t be pushed around like Wood. If we don’t get the 1st or 2nd pick I’d take Mobley
So I know our chance to land #1 overall is 14%. Does anyone know the chances of at least being in the top 4?
Queta is fast enough in straight line, just too mechanical when he moves laterally. No argument that Bassey is more fluid and touch more explosive but Queta, as raw as he is, has better footwork in post, better ballhandler, better finisher, better rim protector and much better passer than Bassey. Bassey is the better shooter, especially from 3.
