He's not afraid to take big-time 3s. His problem is the in-between game. But he's one of the top defenders at this spot and he gives you toughness." -- NBA assistant Entire List: Spoiler 1. Number 4 cant pass. Number 5 wasn't selected to the all star game initially. 8 received a modest but fair contract. 11 cant see the court. 12 got traded for assets. 15 couldn't help his team move the needle in even the slightest way. PG is supposedly as deep as it's ever been. Seems like a stretch to me. Least valuable position in the league IMO.
No, that's #17. When you have trouble converting layups, in addition to 2 and 3 pointers, you have serious shooting problems.
lol @ Mo Williams being below Beverley based on a certain thread about Mo Williams causing trade deadline angst.
Bev is not worth a top 30 PG contract, last year, maybe. This year no. Without Harden he's nothing but a spark off the bench for his defense.
that seems right. he's not even a real pg. id rank him above the 4 guys after him but maybe mowill is ahead. if bev wants to get higher on that list he has to shoot better, make his own shot, or learn how to play pg
I would honestly think Brandon Knight would be ranked higher than he currently is. Higher than Reggie Jackson anyways. I'm not really surprised though, he's more of a SG stuck in a PG's body. He's perfect along side Harden because he doesn't need the ball to be effective. Not entirely sure he's 100% healed or will be as quick as he was before his injury last year (since it was reported he played through a ACL tear in the playoffs?).
The truth is that Harden should be considered the point-guard since he runs the offense, and it's just semantics calling him a shooting guard. Beverley is in a lot of ways like Asik, who we got rid of, except with more personality than a rock. He's a "defensive specialist" and can really only score when assisted, except in rare cases. When they're playing a half-court offense, and he's running it, NOTHING HAPPENS. Literally nothing. It's same way that we were playing with four offensive players when Asik was with us. I grew to love Patrick Beverley, and I loved his spunk and aggression when he came on the scene, but I expected him to mature over the next couple years into, I don't know, a point guard. Over the same amount of time working together, D-Mo's improved astronomically. I mean, I know playing pass-first point is like playing quarterback, and I know it's further complicated by Harden needing the ball so much, but are there no coaches out there that can teach court awareness and finding the open man and all the various aspects of being a point guard in the NBA? C'mon. Even if your current team doesn't want to use you like that, get a private coach for when you get your fat contract with another team, and they don't have a James Harden, and you DO have to facilitate. That's what bothers me. NBA players ought to have easy access to some of the greatest coaches in history for any skill imaginable, and the money to pay them. There's no excuse for stagnation and non-improvement.
