If you had any brains you'd know that a 1030 isn't even that far left on the distribution so it's hardly "very very bad." (To be precise it's not even a full standard deviation left of the mean if the average score is around 1250 and the standard deviation isn't higher than lower than 120 assuming normality.) And before you even try to diss me, FYI I've a 1540 on the sat and a proud graduate of Shane's alma mater (duke).
