Tecmo Super Bowl was somewhere on the order of 3001383821 times better than Tecmo Bowl and not putting it at its rightful place at #1, much less even on the list, nearly makes the entire list invalid. i would allow TSB to be #2 to SMB to pay homage to SMB for all intents and purposes starting it all. Super Mario Bros 3 has to be on the list somewhere. That was amazing for an NES game. and Major League Baseball was awesome. you could pick Oakland and just crush homers with mcgwire and canseco all over the place. also, learning all the nuances of which throws which be slow as hell and which ones would be lasered to the base was cool. it's suckiness made it pretty good. and 3814, even by your standards, Tecmo Super Bowl is still the greatest game ever. the characters, the game play, the stats, everything was so perfect.
Huh? Maybe my sarcasm meter is broke or you are too young to remember it, but Donkey Kong NOT Super Mario Brothers was the game that broke Nintendo in the big time. Without Donkey Kong, I doubt we would have seen a Nintendo Entertainment System in the first place. It may have not been the most exciting game to play but it has to be ranked as one of the greatest video games ever mainly for the huge impact it had for Nintendo.
I have to say i agree F4P. There is no single game I have played more than Tecmo Super Bowl. Even after Madden came out, TSB was the game of choice. I remember staying up for days at a time playing a season with friends. BTW, does anybody remember the Sega version of TSB? I played it a few times and found the controls not as tight as the NES version.
Wait a second.... I just realized that Burger Time is not on this list! This list is now meaningless.
LOL Burger Time was awesome, which reminds me of Mike Tyson Punchout and Rampage. I played the heck out of those growing up.
Wait a minute, wait a minute...the original Metroid isn't on that list. WTF? That game had the coolest music ever, and it was, for me at least, a very spooky game to play at 3AM. I'm not sure what it was...but I liked it.
I would have thought that Metroid would have made it over Super Metroid. btw: I always thought that Mega Man III had the best music of any game.
what the F? looks like a nintendo list if u look at the top 10. j/k, Nintendo is a major innovator now to think about it. Why is tecmo bowl at 26? thats a crock.
In the Genesis version of NHL94, you could fight and cripple players with badass moves and blood everywhere. It's one of those games where you had to be there.... NHL and other sports licenses cleaned that up, so you can't get that in 95 or 05... I hate lists....
That game kicks ass. One of my favoirte of all time. I would bet anything to anyone that I would kick their ass so bad at this game and then laugh at them when they cry.
i would say the same about Super MarioKart. i suck at the 64 version (well i never really played it) b/c i think you had to use the joystick to turn (i can't use joysticks), but i own the super nintendo version. no one can beat me on rainbow road. and i forgot burger time. what a sad history it had with me. i bought it for $30 bucks as a kid. and i never really spent money, so this was a big deal. then for some reason i found it boring and decided to sell it. got 10 freaking dollars at a garage sale for it. then wanted it back so many times after that. i finally brought it home a year or so ago by getting it off ebay. still not that exciting but a damn hard game. once you get to like the 4th level i can't handle it. but good to have it back in the family of games that still work on my NES.
That list, Its not good. I like GTA: Vice City more than GTA III, Donkey Kong, Pacman, Duck Hunt are classics. Secret of mana is good, but not enough to be in the top 100
Newer school: No StarCraft (pc)? Old school: Pole-Position (arcade)? Burn Out (arecade)? Karate Champ (arcade)? Space Invaders? Tempest? What is this guy? 14?
You know something? YOU SUCK. Nintendo dominates the top ten on that list...as it should. But I'm with most in here, way too many omissions and a lot of the games on the list are just confusing. Sure, Wave Race for N64 was the first game to make jetskiing entertaining to some degree, but the game really was pretty average overall. It got more publicity than a game its ilk would because it was one of the first games for the N64...but I can't believe it would make the top 100 of all time. I am also glad to see Final Fantasy 2 got such a high ranking. That game is freaking awesome...probably still my favorite Final Fantasy game. Crap...I echo thadeus's sentiment, I miss my NES.
