ima, sorry, that version is just as naive. Yes, he's laughing all the way to the bank, but it's people like B-Bob's and Mrs B-Bob's conservative relatives hanging on the dude's every word, not a bunch of liberals tuning in and making his advertising spots a big-money buy on daytime AM radio. Right? As I've posted, I don't support the "right wing extremists only listen to him!" either. A lot of people listen, and it's causing a greater rift and harming national dialogue. Either that, or a lot of people listen, and they are learning the truth: liberals are the cause of everything bad in the nation.
no because those people are such a minority. I mean how many 75+ year olds are out their throwing shoes and dropping n-bombs. Not 15-30 million.
Well, I don't know. Ratings are based on how many people listen to your show, not on how many people agree with what you say on your show, right? As many critics as the guy has and as much at they seem to know about him and his show, it would seem to me that there are a lot of critics who, by listening to his show every day waiting for his next "oopsie" are unknowingly filling his pockets with cash. That's what I mean by "suckers". It's like the people who respond to trolls, only this troll is getting paid for people responding to him. I think I've made my case on how I feel about talk radio here many times. This is the reason I loathe it so much. Let's be real - Rush is in this for the money, first and foremost. This is a business. And the more people who pay attention to him (good or bad), the more cash they are putting into his bank account.
Well, I think this thread and the other one about access for Fox News to the White House stuff are pretty interesting when you compare them. While I would defend access for Fox to information and press conferences, I simply don't understand how a guy who said the things in the original post can still be on air . That stuff is just blatantly racist and I can promise you a person that spouts stuff like that would not be on TV in Germany anymore, regardless of legal arguments - public pressure would force the guy off air. How is this even possible? Why isn't there an outcry against something like this? This has nothing to do with freedom of speech - seems more like hate speech to me.
ima, we mainly agree, and ima give you a chicken dinner too. But I guess I feel like I should speak my mind when I think something is bad for the country. Maybe the truth is that Limbaugh is like a scab and I make the whole situation worse by picking at it.
I would say that Limbaugh is in an oddly-insulated position to make statements like he does. If a politician, a businessman, a singer, an actor, an athlete, or just about anyone else with a public forum said what he has said, he'd pay for it. Somehow, Rush is covered with teflon. When he briefly stepped out of his niche into the franchise-owner one, he felt that heat.

Actually those Turks in the video sound pretty stupid to me. They didn't present much of an argument.

perhaps they overestimated your intelligence and believed that upon watching the racism, it would be obvious enough that they didn't have to elaborate more than they did. But it really isn't surprising that you don't get it, given your history of posting racist comments on this board.
