Fatty's right, Freddy Got Fingered deserves consideration, and I absolutely hated Tom Green. "Where's your LeBaron, Freddy?" "Get the **** out of the way!" "All I want to do...I suck your c**k." "Can he do it like this?" (Shaq) And of course my daddy would like some sausage. Preferably served by the backwards man, the backwards man. He can run back as fast as you can.
Je Vais Bien, Ne T'en Fais Pas. It's a fantastic film. If you get bored, you can just fap to Melanie Laurent. btw, Dark Night was a shoebox of stupid. Garden State sucked too.
I liked The Good Shepherd, a lot. Cold Mountain was really good too. Band of Brothers. Human Traffic. I really liked Vanilla Sky, maybe because I saw Abre Los Ojos prior and anticipated the english version. but, my number one is Passion Of The Christ. I saw it in the theaters when it came out, I haven't seen it since, basically because of what it did to me the first time I saw it. No movie has ever stuck with me for that long.
Russian Ark is the most amazing cinematographic feat ever. Even better than 3-D Beowulf. The Man Without a Past is one of the funniest movies ever. He puts the "dead" in "deadpan"! Both of these are foreign language films, so I'm an a-hole.
Don't really think the foreign films are mentioned too much...I've seen a couple of really good ones. 1-Pan's Labyrinth 2-Das Leben der Anderen (Lives of Others) 3-Hotel Rwanda 4-Der Untergang (Downfall) 5-City of God 6-Gran Torino 7-Children of Men 8-Sin City 9-The Dark Knight 10-The Prestige
Re Match Point: Indeed; she tends to do that. Have you seen Vicky Christina Barcelona? It's in many ways the equal of Match Point, and something tells me you might enjoy the storyline. Yeah, Thewlis captured perfectly the '90s millennial dread/self-destructive male that Fight Club (the film) was reaching for. His and Harvey Keitel's acting in Bad Lieutenant (both from the '90s) are the two best performances I've ever seen. That Thewlis reportedly workshopped the script with Leigh & the other actors, was responsible for much of his own dialogue, makes his performance all the more amazing. Naked still comes on IFC every once in a while. I share in your recommendation.
my sister and i have printed out her movie list from imdb and taken it to the rental store. preachin' to the choir.
No way in hell can I even remember all the movies from 2009. So I'll list the top ones...most being from what I have seen in the thread. My vote goes to movies I can watch over and over again, and movies that changed cinema in some way. Crash (this made no ones list??) The Dark Knight Gladiator The Ring Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon 40 Yr Old Virgin RAY (this made no ones list??) Matrix (1st one only) Training Day The Patriot Shrek (I know this makes #11 but can't leave it off) And since folks are throwing 1999 movies out there, add Sixth Sense to the list. I believe that was the first really good movie I saw with the twist ending.
No order... Children of Men Little Miss Sunshine Gladiator Amelie Into the Wild Finding Nemo The Hangover Identity Meet the Parents Memento
I think the performance was a lot better than the movie though it was definitely a solid movie. I think Walk the Line was a better movie if you're going to go with something like Ray.
I liked Troy but I do understand how plenty criticized it. My mentioning of Troy was merely just to take a shot at 300, which I found to be very scripted and lacking in substance. On that level, I thought Troy was way better. I just wish Brad Pitt got more screen time because his role in that movie was absolutely badass.
1. Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy 1a. LOTR trilogy 7. Finding Nemo 8. Star Trek 9. Transformers 10. The Pursuit of Happyness
There's a Sister Bound? Who also shares your (un)healthy fascination with Ms. Johansson? How does that work? Older (Championship-) or younger (Southwest Divisional-)? As usual, pics or it didn't happen. Family movie night (aka Moe's personal frustration level Orange) at the Tavern domicile? (slightly NSFW): Spoiler By any chance, do you have a cousin who's into Rosario Dawson? Preferably female, preferably with low (random internet stranger-level) standards? 'Cause that's kinda more my speed. (If it makes a difference, I have a Blu-Ray version of Deathproof...)
1. Any Harry Potter movie...This movie franchise is already legendary, based on it's top shelf storyline, characters, and heart... 2. Gladiator...Epic right from the start, and with a ending that impacts. 3. 300...A movie you can watch 300 times easy. 4. The Dark Knight...The best movie of it's type all the way through. 5. Finding Nemo...The best family movie I have seen with a story we can all relate to... 6. Pirates of the Carribbean...Any one, but I really enjoyed the latter..."It's just good business..." 7. Iron man 8. Black hawk down 9. X-Men 2 10. Kung-fu Panda
