Can you really pick 10? There are so many movies in that time frame and how can you remember what movies you saw and liked by heart? How do you keep track of the movies you watched, do you write a journal or something? I own a ton of dvd's but I still don't remember which ones I like and have time to compile a list of sorts..

(Nothing against homoeroticism, done well: Brokeback Mountain was one of the great movies of the last decade; though its characters chose to, it did not mask its intentions.) I think of Black Hawk Down, from this decade, as a better definition of testosterone p*rn. The soldiers in that film didn't feel the need to constantly disrobe from their armor plating.
That's exactly how I picked my list. I only buy maybe 2 DVD's a year, so it better be good w/ high re-playability and all the movies I picked, I own. Conversely, I found Brokeback Mountain very engrossing and worthy of all the praise, but I don't think I'll ever watch it again.
GO SUCK A F#$K! I do find it humorous how you told a poster to stop criticizing and a few pages later you did the same thing, Mr. Subjective Anyway, great thread...always interesting to see people's favorite movies And to the Departed critic...the ending is what makes it so great. Screw fairytale endings and the performances by Jack and Leo were amazing...especially Leo
I gave my opinion on Troy as others were, I didn't say anything about it not belonging on his Top 10 list, because its his own list and he can put whatever he wants on it, just as I did.
No particular order: Crouching Tiger Love, Actually Matirx (all) Gladiator Kill Bill (both) Apocalypto LOTR (all) Shawn of the Dead Napoleon Dynamite High Fidelity Bourne ______ Star Trek Lost in Translation 300 O Brother Where Art Thou Master and Commander About a Boy
To those who didn't like The Departed, I suggest the original it was based on, Infernal Affairs. It's much more of a thriller and the suspenseful moments were a lot better IMHO. I thought the Departed was good too. Better character development, and credit to Scorcese who made it his own. But it felt like those great scenes of duplicity and double crossing were kind of flat compared to IA.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon keeps popping up in people's lists. Let me humbly suggest that Hero is a superior movie in the same genre. Tighter story, amazing cinematography, and some great fight-scene choreography.
I thought Hero was underrated as well. Very good film. Also enjoyed Shao-Lin Soccer and Kung-Fu Hustle.
Dud you see The Road yet? Good movie. Saw it yesterday. Cool thing is that they filmed the beach parts 10 minutes from my house. I loved No Country for Old Men, except I thought the talking at the end sucked.
I'm still waiting to see something from this decade that matches David Thewlis's performance in Naked. Naked's a little dated now but it's the last movie where I was simply left impressed. Most of the films I seen from this decade have been disappointing.
I really liked King Arthur when it came out. I thought it was better than Troy (even though I loved Troy too).
