That Stockton shot was a doozie.

Barkley's injury the following year when we had just gone up 2-1 on the Jazzholes wasn't too cool either.

I cried myself to sleep both nights. :(

I thought we had bases loaded and Weiss made an amazing play and throw to home to nail the runner.

ahh you beat me to it. bases loaded, infield in for no good reason w/ slow ass eusebio up. ball nailed straight up the middle for what looks like the game winning single. weiss' sorry ass dives, catches if off a hop, gets up and while still kind of leaning left and falling down makes a perfect strike home. i wanna say cammi was the guy sliding in at the plate late. man that blew.

    all timers for me:

oilers-bills: although these days it's almost a badge of honor. oh the giants blew a 25 lead to the 49ers. whoop de do. my team did that with some time left in the 3rd qaurter. beat that.

    flopton 3: absolutely stunned

i can't think of any that really rank right up there with those. i've taken some regular season stuff hard but can't compare to playoffs.

if i wasn't only 21 and had to experience them first hand,

1986 mets game 6 would still haunt me to this day. i don't know how the ninth inning went, i just know the stros were up 3-0. since i do it with other stuff, all the runs in that inning and how it could've all ended before they scored would still be replaying in my mind.

ncstate game. same thing as above.

renfro non-td. i hate refs a lot as it is, it would really be bad if i saw that live.

you are correct. to tag out cammy. walt basically dove backwards into the outfield and snagged the ball after it went past him. one of those plays that makes your stomache sink and you realize that you are cursed.

    Cammy didn't slide.

    Bases were loaded, no outs.

Everett comes up, harmless pop foul - one away.

Tough Tony comes up, slaps one straight up the middle, looks like a sure hit, and even if Weiss gets it, no way he can get Cammy at the plate. But Weiss dives, snags it, and rifles it home to Lopez, who gets it right before a hard-charging Caminiti stumbles into home, tripping over Lopez's left(?) leg, which was on the plate.

The next batter hit a harmless fly ball to Brian Jordan? to end the inning.

Later in the game, Jordan hit his second homer of the night to give the Braves the win.

    f Walt Weiss.

You guys are right, I remembered the hit and thinking we had won, but all the background info had failed me.

I still remember Dierker pitching f***** Jackson over Dotel two years ago, costing us the series.

It was heartbreaking when he suffered his stroke. At the time of his stroke in 1980, he was having the best year of his career. 17 starts, 10-4 record, 113 IP 119 K's and a 1.90 ERA.

With a healthy J.R., we probably make it to the World Series that season.

Bunch of good (or bad) ones here.

I've got to add the whole Astros/Padres series in 1998 to the list. The Stros looked like the team to beat in the NL with the Big Unit absolutely untouchable in the second half of the season. I was sure we were cruising to the Series.

The utter ineptitude against Kevin Brown and Sterling Hitchcock was heartbreaking. Whiff after whiff after whiff ...

Another one that I'm sure isn't on anyone's list on this board: A Cal team led by Jason Kidd and Lamond Murray getting upset by wimpy Wisconsin-Green Bay in the first round of the tourney in what ended up being the last year for both of them. Cal was a legit Final Four contender that year...

How about the World Cup final in 1994 when Roberto Baggio botched his penalty kick over the goal? That was after a great game that went 0-0 through regulation and then overtime. The shootout was so anti-climatic. Who kicks the ball directly over the goal from a PK?

My choice for top heartbreaker would be the Chiefs-Oilers game. Certainly the other Oiler collapses sucked hardcore, but that Chiefs loss signified the end of an era for the Houston Oilers. Coming into the game, our defense was amazing with Buddy Ryan at the helm and I firmly believed that this team would be unstoppable with that tremendous defense. We actually had the bye as well, so all it took was 2 wins and we're in the Super Bowl. I thought our chances were pretty good, especially since we destroyed the Chiefs earlier in the season, of course, these were the Houston Oilers...and they would go on to choke for a final time. I'm still haunted by that image of the Chief WR (can't remember his name) catching the clinching TD and then spiking the mural of Buddy Ryan on the wall.

Then the NFL installed the salary cap, and the beginning of the end started...:(

That would be Keith Cash their TE, the same guy that made the block(if i remember correctly). That game really tore my loyalties. I am/was a big fan of both teams.
