i have them all downloaded, and for those that dont know skype it is an awesome program for communicating across the world. We use it here for business, to communicate to our clinics in Spain. Pretty much anyone that has skype can talk to each other. It just requires microphone, headset, etc.
At some point in this computer's life, these have been on the hard drive: 1. ICQ 2. Winamp 3. Napster 4. FireFox 5. WinZip 7. Ad-Aware 9. RealPlayer 10. Adobe Acrobat Reader I currently still have 4, 7, and 10.
If this list was accurate, Windows security patches would be the most downloaded software. ICQ was the shiznit back in the day, but it followed the inevitable path of all popular software, and went from a svelte, efficient, and useful proggie to a bloated resource hog.
like most of y'all, the only one i never d/l'd is skype..NEVER heard of it before. as for icq, only the truest of true internet users remember this program. was really big during like 96-98 and then BOOM, AIM came in. Funny how your account wasn't a screenname but a bunch of numbers hahha.
All except 4,6,7,8 ICQ was the best instant messenger, but now I use MSN Messenger Napster was the best to download music when was free, now I have Ares
all but ICQ and Skype, which i had also never heard of until now. i think our home computer used to have icq on it but i didn't even know what it was since as far back as i can remember i've always used AIM. even though you couldn't get videos and it would make you restart a download if you got disconnected, Napster was by far the greatest program ever. anything ever made was on there (and anything new was on there about 5 seconds after it was made) and you didn't have to wade through bad files to get the good one. and i got it just as i got to UT and on their T1 connection. i had 50 songs within a few hours of having it. pure greatness.
