My oldest lost her first tooth yesterday, she was so excited. I swear that tooth has been loose for a month. The other day my friends we telling her about the old string and doorknob trick, or tie a string to a brick and just drop it. So I pull up my driveway yesterday and found my daughter holding a brick. I’m like wtf ??? She yells out “ Daddy….. Lets do the brick trick “ lol ( I convinced her it was a bad idea ) Later that night she managed to locate some string ( actually, some type of elastic thread ) So she managed to get it around the tooth, tied the other end around the front door knob. With the front door open and with the help of her 4 yr old sister, she gave it try. She backed up about 10 feet from the door, closed her eyes and said “ sissy, shut the door “ I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. The string was so elastic, nothing happen. She could walk 20 feet from the door if she wanted. Later that night she got it out by herself. Anyway, What’s the going rate for teeth these days.
My boss kept his kids' teeth in a can or something. One of his kids discovered his stash and it had something like 40 teeth in it. Don't do that, it's kinda disgusting. Maybe keep the first one. I think I got a dollar when I was a kid. I doubt the value is very sensitive to inflation.
What?!?!? ...$5 my a$$!!! Five bucks buys me lunch! My kid ain't gettin' no five dollars for a tooth. ... ...$5.... I got a dime per tooth when I was a kid. I know inflation changes things, but no way is it over a dollar. -- droxford
Consider the $5 an investment. Imagine the profits you'll reap selling the baby teeth on the black market.
I usually got between 1 dollar and 5 dollars from my dad when I lost a tooth. It seemed really random. I remember getting 1, 2 and 5 dollars specifically. Since it is the 1st, I would go with 5. Damn, kids are expensive...
I usually got between 2 and 5 bucks... ...but one night i pulled out four, at different times. the first, my parents knew about and put 2 bucks under my pillow. then around 10:30 at n ght i ran into their room and exclaimed how another came out. so i put that under my pillow and woke up around 2 in the morning with another Twoonie there (i'm canadian eh, it's equivalent to your dimes ). Then i pulled another out another one and went and woke my parents up. At 4:00 in the mornin i had another 2 bucks... ...I had one more tooth that i could get out, but it would be some work. I worked that tooth for about 15 minutes and finally ripped it out with pliers. I rand into my parents room at 4:30 and exclaimed again "i got another tooth out! that's four!!!" My parents then decided to give up on the whole tooth fairy idea - my dad said "the tooth fairy isn't real, grab a damn 20 from my wallet and go to sleep."
At $5.00 a pop, you'll be lucky if the kids don't rip them out themselves causing their adult teeth to grow in crooked due to their not-yet-developed jaw. Then, add the $5 x 32 to the $2000-$3000 bill for braces. I'd keep it at $1.00.
A Quarter is all my kids get, they have no concept of cash anyway, they just like getting something. DD
