yea this was my first tool concert. guess i had diff expectations. I'm a HUGE tool fan though. All I ever listen to in my car or at home is tool/apc
Sad post is sad. Seriously, man: Black Sabbath (original lineup), Heaven & Hell (Sabbath with Dio singing), Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Metallica, and Megadeth all vehemently disagree with you. Most of these guys I've seen in the last 1-3 years, they're mostly in their 40's and 50's, and they'll rock your ass off and put on a hell of a show at the same time. I genuinely believe they'd rather quit and retire than disappoint their fans. I like Tool. Musically they're phenomenal. And that show was my first and last Tool show. Never again. If their fans expect this behavior of a sub-par show with a shi**y attitude from them, why do they even bother?
This was my first Tool concert too. While I was disappointed with how short it was, I have to admit that the songs they played were awesome. After hearing Jambi I was like Then I heard Stinkfist and I was like  An then when I heard Lateralus, I was like Then the show ended and I was like By the way, did any of you guys get a good look at what Dana was wearing? He had a red McGrady jersey on, lol
It was Ariza actually. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2ha7FLWre9w&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2ha7FLWre9w&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I was at the show and have been to others in the past. I thought this show was great, it was atleast 15mins short tho, but they did a really good job with the effects. Tool has never come back on the stage for an encore at a show ive been at, so dont go in expecting one. As far as beer not being sold after a certain point thats not the band, its the venue (and apparently the reason they were using plastic cups instead of letting us take in bottles was due to an incident at a recent Kid Rock show), the TC stops serving beer after the 3rd quarter at games. Maynard actually likes playing in Houston, although after his last show at the pavillion he said the would never play there again he had alot of problems with them in the past.
I'm assuming this is directed at my comment above, but I've been to several shows at the Pavillion and this is the only one where they cut off alcohol sales. When I asked why, they (including the tshirt vendors) ALL said it was per the band, and they ALL said it was unexpected. They stopped selling booze at the Van Morrison show a few weeks back (family member went), but the audience was aware of it prior to the show and it was per Van Morrison's request. And to be clear, I was much more upset at Tool's pitiful performance than I was at the lack of beer. If I want a low-volume sing-along, I'll find some karaoke dive.
your right there are exceptions. and there are different degrees of course of what i was talking about. but its still true. you would almost have to compare it to the actual music people put out over time. once they become famous and rich the quality usually takes a nose dive. of course there are always exceptions and different degrees. like the beatles stopping before things went south if that were even possible for those four guys.
I've found that top notch musicians usually give it their all for the love of the music. I would expect a band the caliber of Tool to be in this category, which is why I'm still bitter about the whole damn thing.
Sorry dude, they rocked it on Sunday and you missed it. Too bad you paid for the bad show. "This was my 6th time seeing Tool and I have to say they redeemed themselves from the previous 2 times I saw them. Third Eye for an opener was killer. I can't complain about the setlist, I thought it was perfect. From start to finish the concert was awesome. When Maynard said, "For the next two hours, nothing else matters." He was right. Bravo!" http://toolnavy.com/showthread.php?t=118973
I've seen Pearl Jam 4 times, and each time they have performed at least 25 songs. Once they went off for 32, including 3 encores.
Tool songs very in length from 6-10 minutes and they tend to play out their songs a little longer live. 25 x 3 miutes = 1:15 11 x 8 minute = 1:28
