The only evidence I can point to in that direction is that on the whole he's been turning the ball over less, forcing less shots, distributing the ball more, recognizing when he does have stupid TO's such as the Portland game. Steve had a quote that something like "Just look at the TO's I had." His shots pre game have gone down, and the ones he takes are usually within the flow of the game now. Then there's the way Francis in the first Yao/Shaq match up played the Lakers to near perfection. He was the one taking the team on his shoulders and when the Lakers collapsed on him, he knew to look for the wide open Yao. There was lastnight in the Portland game when the Rockets were making a run, that Francis managed to tie up a Blazer, and get a jump ball. He's leading at just the right time. Of course there's also the way that Francis has done much to make Yao feel at home, by stretching with him, driving him around, and sharing his insight with Yao. There's the little matter of Steve changing his diet to help control the Meniere's disease, which enables him to play in many more games.

Outside of that evidence, there isn't really much to show how Steve is getting smarter and doing the right thing for the team.

I'll be happy about Francis when I see him pass directly into Yao Ming, Yao Ming pass it out to Francis, reposition and Francis pass the ball back into him. Mo Taylor or Griffin move over and shield Yao Ming from his defender, giving him an easy shot at the basket. This is what I call Team Basketball and I havn't noticed it this season. This senario applies to any group of our players, not just involving the Point Guard and Center!

God! I mean...Yao is so tall. They are all pretty good ballhandlers. It can be so simple. Yet...ti seems so hard for them. They always have to do it a certain way...

Defence is British or Canadian spelling while defense is American spelling.

why bother pointing that out? I think a lot of posters here are not Americans. They are all over the world.

Great post. I really don't need to add anything to what you said, but I'll just say Francis is learning and getting better.

Also nice to point that out, Juugie. I think Yettie is cool, but he seems to look @ everything in a selfish way when it comes to Yao Ming and the Rockets as a whole -- I guess that's why he gets the rep of being a "Yao-only fan?"

With Yetti posts, you must first acknowledge that Yao comes before anything and anyone else.

Yao is one of the reasons we lost 2 games in a row. How about acknowledging that?

Guess what? This is the NBA, and we expect our star player to be able to score on double teams quite a bit.

I agreed with most of what you said.

Yao should be the focal point of offense, then Franchise. We will not lost the last two games if we involve Yao more in the fourth quarter.

It's so frustrating to see that we have a great big man and not use him enough. Every single one of our opponents' broadcaster suggest they can use Yao more effectively.

If we play more team ball, Steve and Ming will eventually develop into at least a Kobe & Shaq.
