I can't believe I am defending the fakers  , but in their defense(IIRC), Karl's had some knee injury issues and was not fully healthy. IIRC, Karl had a great game against us in the first round, but he hurt himself in the next round. (For that matter, I can't believe I am defending Karl   ........) I apologize in advance, if memory has failed me.

Don't you know the Rockets' motto this year?

    Teamwork compensates talent.

You are probably right Newyorker-most here would not put big money on this team to get a ring. What is the fun in safe bets?????

We have a special team here in my opinion.I am proud of my Rockets team.We may not even get to the 2nd round. All I know is Yao will be back. If healthy -Tracy will be our warrior with something to prove.

I will be driving from Beaumont Texas through the fog tonite to Toyota Center to watch my Rockets team play the Raptors. I will be screaming like a fool in section #410. After the way the Rox played NOK, ATL, and Boston- I do not like our odds against an up and comer like Toronto.

I will be there because I am a fan through the good and the bad..

I asked my new account manager when the playoff tickets optioin comes available for season ticket holders. It is March 6th. I am begging for an upgrade.

Yeah you're right NewYorker-we probably will not win a ring-but I am buying this product.

Remember what Hakeem Olajuwan said"You can doubt me- many have before"

i agree with NewYorker and ive been saying this for a long time as well. rafer, head, hayes, and juwon are exposed so bad when we play the mavs and suns. they get beat off the dribble and cant create their own shots.

suns have lots of guys who can beat you off the dribble and score in your face:
    nash
    marion
    amare
    diaw
    barbosa "the brazilian blur"

    so do the mavs:
    dirk
    terry
    howard
    stackhouse
    harris
    even devean george

they have so many weapons of course head, rafer, hayes, and juwon will be burned everytime on defense, and on offense they cant do much for themselves either. sry to say but its true =[

You are right. We don't need offense at every position. Detroit, lowest scoring team, is a great example of a team that did it with Ben Wallace. I don't know why others want us to be modeled like Phoenix, highest scoring team, but has not won anything.

even detroit had guys that could score on their own though. billups, rip, sheed. even the one guy that you might argue has trouble getting his own shot, tayshaun, is miles ahead of guys like battier, head, or rafer in getting off a shot. when t-mac gets doubled or tripled in the playoffs, and he will since the rockets haven't yet shown that they can do anything about it, its going to be on the role players to make something happen. it doesn't sound like it should be that hard, but we've all seen just how hard it is for this team.

What you guys don't realize is that New Yorker doesn't even believe what he posts. He likes to throw out bs just to get a reaction.

I disagree. Nash is a superstar. Amare and Marion are all-star bench material.
We win on the superstar count.

I don't think any other team in the league can lose their top 2 players and make the playoffs, and there aren't many who can lose their best player and still make the playoffs. We're fine how we are. Our chemistry is A+ when our "scrubs" mix with our superstars. We should be able to take down any team in the playoffs. Miami won last year with a declining Shaq, Wade, a badly slumping Walker and a bunch of scrubs playing hard and hungry while getting it together at the right time(even though the refs had a major say in the outcomes).

    We'll see.

Steve Nash is the best passer to ever play the game. Not only does he have the vision of Magic, he has an uncanny ability to see a few seconds into the future and make passes though holes that don't exist but will exist by the time the ball gets there. It's truely amazing, and makes him nearly impossible to double team.

I don't think highly of Head or Alston or Hayes. They are weak role-players who will be badly exposed come playoff time.

But I guess we'll see what happens - ya know I'll be the happiest person to be wrong, but I don't think we'll get past the second round. Sorry to spoil the party.

    That's exactly my point.

I'd trade howard for wallace (either one) any day of the week.
I'd trade head and alston for prince, billups, or rip any day of the week.

If we had some of those guys, we'd be a lock. T-mac and Yao - they are the right pieces, battier is a great role player - the rest of the team sucks (except maybe mutombo and wells).

This repeated mention of 'scrubs' is annoying. These millionaire 'scrubs' are the elite of all of the millions of kids who play ball. None are scrubs just like none of the previous championship teams had scrubs, but I expect some would have called them that.

We have the best defense in the league (with 'scrubs'), 2 MVP candidates, one of the stronger rebounding teams (with 'scrubs') and one of the strongest 3-pt shooting teams (with 'scrubs'), 6th best record in the league (with 'scrubs'), good team chemistry (with 'scrubs')... stupid thread.

    How old are you?

Sorry to spoil your party, but you spoiled nothing since your opinion has no bearing whatsoever on the success of this team.

first of all, samaki walker wasnt even w/ the lakers when they played detroit in the finals.

second, he WAS w/ them when they battled those scrubs portland, sacramento and utah in the western conference finals. are you saying those were not complete teams? and rasheed, webber and malone are scrubs?

hate to rain on new yorkers poo-poo parade, but i really like our chances. im not saying we are going to run the tables, but this team is built for the playoffs and once we are in anything can happen.
