    Allen & Martin are totally different. I don't understand why people can say they are similar.

    Garnett is still one of the best defenders right now. If you watched boston's games during this playoffs, you would know it. I am amazed by how he defend his opponets during this playoffs; especially for his PnR defense. Garnett's offense does decline, but his defense is still elite.

    Ray Allen is not an one-dimensional player. He is a good defender. People are misled by his fame of best shooter. Pierce is also a very defender.

    Of course, I give credits to Thibodeau. His defense strategy are great, but without those players' individual skills, his strategy wouldn't be executed so well.

    BTW, there's something positiive, Hill & Taylor have potential to playwell at the both ends.

    That pistons team wasnt that one dimensional. Rip and BWallace are the only guys who play one side of the court and one plays int he backcourt and one int he front. That matter as well. We'd have two weak def links just in the backcourt. If we had two shotblockers at the 4 and 5 waiting for them it could work, but Scola cant hang in that department.

    most players will have an obvious weakness...in his case that would be minimized by having a shooter like martin opposite him and 2 lethal scorers on the blocks (in my trade scenario)...plus he's pretty good about picking his shots, he doesnt force it like Rafer. And he's not one dimensional. He'd still be able to contribute offensively significantly.

    Brooks = Offense
    Martin = Offense
    Ariza = Defense
    Scola = Well-rounded
    Yao = Well-rounded

    Ariza can make up for the mistakes that Brooks and Martin give up. And it isn't like Brooks and Martin are defensive scrubs; they play some defense.

    also....comparing martin and allen...personally i think allen is decent on D, but let's pretend he isnt....individually neither would be a good defender, but in a great defensive system allen would have the edge and could blend in better. Why? Because the guy has the athletic tools to be. He's extremely athletic, while martin has decent speed and is tall at his position, but he's not an above average athlete. It's important to make this distinction. Not every offensive player can fit even in the greatest defensive system and vice versa. You still need certain tools/talents to take advantage of the system.

    :confused:

    And Ariza is going to have his own man to deal with. There's a lot of quality swingmen in the league right now, he may even have to take Martin's man at times...and ariza can't be on the same side of the court brooks AND Martin are in

    "Two-way" players on the Rockets roster (in my opinion):

    Yao (trouble on PnR)
    Ariza (hopefully FG% improves)
    Lowry (just needs consistent shot, has layups and FTs down)
    Scola (defense is good against traditional PFs, otherwise..)
    Hill (current offseason will develop both his defensive and offensive game)

    ^those are the players off the top of my head who can qualify as two way players. They all hustle pretty hard too (except Yao maybe but the paint is a warzone for him)

    We need one or two more, amongst them hopefully one allstar caliber type and we are set.

    Agreed. I think Taylor has the potential to be a 'two-way' player too.

    In addition, from euroleague games that I watched, I think Sergio Llull is a 'two-way' player.
