Sure. No problem. You didn't need to say whether you liked me outside of here, but I am trying to make the point that [you can stop reading here, sir] people who abuse it are the ones making McDonald's grow into the giant that it is. Those of us who don't, just visit for the quick in-and-out meal and the occasional treat for both kids and adults. Don't listen to me. Either way, we've gone out of our way to describe how BAD this is, when the OP was clearly showing WHERE these restaurants are. Unhealthy or not, there are many of these restaurants, but "too many damn" restaurants? I disagree.
Fast Food is an addiction Fatty, I'm sure you can see that. It isn't easy for people to stay away when its so readily available, and relatively inexpensive. The food is nutritionally devoid and should not be eaten on an every day basis. Like I said, the reason there isn't an outcry about it like there was with Big Tobacco is people simply don't want to hear about it. They want to just eat their double cheeseburgers and not think about where it comes from. And Life expectancies continue to rise? Diabetes and Heart Disease are out of control, but thank GOD they are making drugs to keep our fat, diseased asses alive longer? Thats not good reasoning and you know it.
I just feel differently, radically differently. I am very passionate about food awareness. I did not mean to insinuate you were a bad parent at all, I admittedly am ignorant when it comes to parents... I was just trying to point out that corporations like McDonalds think your child is a perfect target to advertise to, and that seems like brainwashing to me and I would not want my child to grow up thinking McDonalds is something good and wholesome. I would rather they see it as more of an occasional treat that you have to be very cautious with.
And I attribute that more to people becoming increasingly sedentary and lazy, and less about fast food restaurants. That said, what would you like the Government to do? Ban Big Mac production? Only allow 1 Mcdonalds every 50 miles? Seriously, what happened to freedom of choice? As I stated, public demand is the only thing that will make them change, and that is happening. Once again, the only successful change is slow and incremental.
I wish I could eat what I want, but I'm one of those people who gains weight at an alarming rate. Honestly, if I was 5 foot 8 and 160 pounds I probably wouldn't care so much about Fast Food, but that lifestyle has personally been a constant source of headache for me. I gained 50 friggin pounds in a year and half after moving to Houston. I mean thats just ridiculous. Even now that I rarely eat fast food and exercise on a daily basis it isn't easy to continue to drop weight. I watch shows like The Biggest Loser and I can almost identify with these 20 year old people who suddenly woke up one morning and weighed 400 pounds. Something needs to change. We need to start teaching children while they are young about good nutrition and the value of exercising. No more Pepsi machines in the cafeterias. If we become a healthier nation, with the continued advancement of modern medicine... our life expectancy would go through the roof.
Only after we tax it. Seriously though, if someone wanted to eat rat poison, I would consider it their freedom of choice.
Oh snap! Nex thing you know we'll find an old moes post that reveals he actually is a black woman with teenage kids! This whole pasty white guy thing was a schtick! Who the hell are those people in those wedding pics really, moe!?!? It was probably pgabriel.
107 miles is freaking unbelievable. I don't know that McD's is any worse then any other fast food joint -- but, the idea that, no matter where you are in the continental US, you're AT MOST two hours from a Big Mac is kind of disturbing.
One can eat healthy at McDonalds, if one chooses too. For adults, they have salads with grilled chicken that clock in at under 500 calories with not a lot of fat. For children, they happy meals with chicken nuggets, apple slices and water/apple juice/diet soda. Also if you watch children's TV (I have and do since I have a 7 year old), you will see that the McDonalds commercial heavily pimp the healthier items on their menu and physical activity.
I've seen the show, because my wife used to watch it. I make fun of it mostly, but I don't care enough to actually follow it. I think its far from reality if you take fat people and force them to exercise for 7 hours a day and eat healthy.
