Because marginal players make great coaches, I guess the same can be said about marginal athletes being semi-average commentators. Aikman is ok, Fouts is solid, maybe they think because he's a qb he's a good talker, we'll see
If someone was willing to pay me a good bit of change to wear a suit and work like 10 hours a week, I'd take it over getting my face smashed in by giants some more. This doesn't really change anything from the Texans-Broncos side of things. They'll still have their opportunity to make a sales pitch. Imagine how much worse it would be if the Texans/Broncos traded for him and THEN he retired.
Really dumb argument. Tom Brady was a 6th round pick. I'm pretty sure the Patriots are happy they didn't trade that pick away. All draft picks are/can be valuable. Texans weighed the value of a pick vs. the potential value of Romo. It's not absurd that they might have come to the conclusion that (i) Romo is an injury waiting to happen, (ii) Romo on his current contract sucks, and (iii) they'd be happy to take risk on him as a FA, but don't want to move assets for him.
That actually would've been a whole lot better for us than the Brock trade. A ton more money off the books and would've likely only costed a late round pick.
Hahahaha, I kind of feel bad for the people that wanted him. After so many people wanted this guy, this was the outcome I was kind of hoping for. At least he's replacing Phil Simms.
Sign a QB for $36,000,000 guaranteed. Trade QB to Browns for $10,000,000 in cap space and give up 2nd rounder. Sit on cap space and be the least active team in free agency waiting on another QB. Other QB retires. Cap space not used. Second rounder gone.
The Texans look just as Stupid as the Rockets did after trading Lin and a first round pick for cap space to sign Chris Bosh. Texans just better hope AJ Bouye is the next Chandler Parsons....
The Texans don't look stupid for trading away Osweiler for cap room. They look stupid for having signed Osweiler in the first place. There's never any guarantees you're going to get your man in free agency, but if they had never tried it would be beyond stupid.
