He was injured and now has til end of October to get back into shape. His career is far from over, breh.
Aside from his offense, Chris Paul is probably the defensive PG in the league. He can make anyone look bad.
He had an Achilles and ankle injuries. Maybe OP doesn't follow injury reports Oh last year they won the nba title And he was the best pg in playoffs last year
lol tony parker is still a very elite player. he will be back. hate the spurs only because they are an amazing team. this loss is a minor setback.
So a 32 year old Tony Parker is no longer relevant because an ankle injury early in the series kept him at bay? This is one year after he torched his way towards an NBA title. And 2 weeks after he demolished our own Rockets. Riggghhhhhhttttt.......
Inofficially yeah but what is official is... Tony Parker might never be a No1 option in his life and he never was.... he has shown flashes in the playoffs and season and that was all.
being banged up and injured are two totally different things. Tp was injured to the point where it obviously affected his play. if it were the regular season he would not be playing
He left one game for his Achilles. I don't really think rockets fans out of all fans should be ragging on injured point guards
He's an old 32(going on 33) though. Remember, he came into the league in 2001 at the age of 19. He's been in the NBA for a long time. And when you consider how many lengthy playoff runs he's been on with the Spurs in those 14 seasons, it's not surprising that he's started to decline at this point in his career. Kobe started to break down a couple years ago too around the same age.
He played well for 2 months, but the played poorly in the other 4. Must have just been injuries and not a guy getting old that relies on quickness.
In general, 32-33 isn't that old for an NBA player, even one that relies heavily on his quickness. However, Parker has played in the NBA since he was 19, including many long playoff runs, and has had a lot of injuries over the years. Eventually those injuries start to catch up to you and linger longer and longer, regardless of your age. The body can only take so much punishment before it starts to break down. I could see Parker retiring once he turns 35 or 36. Parker's injuries were the biggest factor in his lack of effectiveness this entire season and in the series against the Clippers. There's a difference between being banged up (which almost every NBA player is come playoff time) and being injured. CP3's defense also limited Parker's effectiveness, but Parker also got a decent number of open looks 5-10 feet away from the rim during the series and uncharacteristically missed a lot of them.
He had a mediocre season overall, worst since he was a rookie and had a bunch of injuries as well. It's definitely worth considering that at age 33, the Tony Parker of old may have been swapped out for old Tony Parker
/thread. Did Parker pee in your cereal, or something? Jeez. Dismissing him as a relevant PG means he's not one of the better PGs in the league. This is not true. His shooting is/was mediocre. This is not true. His midrange game was unstoppable. And might still be. Ball-handling is lacking. You can argue that this is the product of the Spurs system. I don't think you'll find the words "Parker ISO" in Pop's playbook. "Most" overrated player in his generation? lel go home, drunk. You're OP.
Tony is the only point guard I have ever seen take over the nba finals. In his prime he was downright unstoppable. The guy flew mostly under the radar too. He never got as much hyoe as some of his contemporaries like DRose, Chris Paul, and Daron Williams but was just as good if not better than all three of those guys in his prime.
