Francis would turn the ball over less if he played with Duncan?

And yes, Francis would enjoy the residual of playing with Duncan. But Duncan would have to carry Francis more than Parker. Duncan would spend a lot of his time covering up the mistakes that Francis would make.

Duncan makes players around him better, Steve prolly still would make some dumb mistakes but yeah he would be better with TD jsut as TP would taper a bit if he was on this Rox team.

Steve is forced into alot of the mistakes he makes here by trying to do too much were he the spurs point gaurd that would not be aa big a problem.

Steve has been trying to do too much, since he's been here. And it's always lead to boneheaded plays in abundance.

And it's not that he's forced, he forces himself to do things he can't and shouldn't. Like drive and throw his body mindlessly into a pit of the oppositions jerseys and just throwing one up there in hopes it'll fall in or just toss on over his shoulder in hopes that someone, non opponent, will catch it.

curious, you really think chise wouldn't not be a better player as a result of playing along side TD and that Parker would thrive as much with Yao as his big main?

SF creates a lot of the mistakes by himself just being dumb. I can name a few: Dribble out the clock during th SA game, turning the ball over like twice in a row during the end of the pacer game, running out of bounce in the lakers series, etc. Well i guess your are right kind of, u said he makes mistakes by doing to much

That's not the question here though is it? If it was and I missed it then I'll shut up right now, but if we are arguing whether Parker or Steve is better and I tell you it's an unfair question because Parker gets to play with Duncan..... would Stockton have been as great passing to Derrick Coleman?

There is no "force." There is "decision."

And Parker would not be "forced" because he will know when and when not to pass. This is a knowledge that each and every PG has; those of which who are competent.

That's why guards turnovers do not increase from their average very much. They just know better no matter what offense they run. That's why they call it "court vision" and "great decision" making. It's part of that PGs makeup.

Their assist may drop. But their TO do not increase much.

Just because you move Nash to the Rockets doesn't mean that his turnovers rise from 2.7 to 3.7. He'd be able to maintain that to rate just because he knows better. It's in his brain! He knows how to adapt.

You must realize that Francis puts himself in those postions because he thinks that he's better than he really is. Plus, he's very weak at setting up the pass just in case. It's ingrained in his brain. It's just the way that he is.

Stockton's assist may have dropped a bit. But his decision making would have remained stable. Thus, his turnovers would not increased because he knows how to make intelligent decisions.

His mind would go with him. It wouldn't be left in Utah if he was traded.

LOL. By your logic, it's unfair to say SF is a better PG than I am because I dont get the chance to play with Yao. Wait until I play with Dream and u will see what I can do. :D

two year ago, one would get killed to mention francis and parker in one sentence. last year this parker-francis comparison would bring storm of laughters. Now it seems legitimate. what a trend. man.

in two years, steve will be 29 and surely will lose a bit of athletic ability. i see him fading and becoming an overpaid second tier star faster than we can imagine.

Most of Francis' turnovers do not come on passes, they come because he is "forced" to try and take over games at the most crucial times because teammates have not installed confidence in him that if he defered to them they would get the job done. He would not have that problem with TD in SA.

You wanna knock Chises court vision; well I can pull my head out of his ass long enough to agree with you on that one :D, it's not good most of the time. But the fact of the matter is look at what Chise has been asked to do for most of his career compared to what Parker has been asked to do for his. That's you difference in assist-to-turnover ratio right there.

No but it might if you asked him to score twenty and be the sole focal pint of the offense running with guys like we had for most of Steve's career

    See my above statement

The important thing is that Duncan would be worse if he played with Francis.

He's not forced to do anything. People have brains. They should use them if they have them. Half of SF turnovers are UNFORCED. That means that he dribbles balls right off his FOOT! That means that he throws passes to the guy in the 2nd row. That means that he drives into a double team in order to SCORE, not looking for the pass.

These are decisions that lie in Francis hands. Not the "system." Stop trying to make up excuses.

    What the heck is "Chise?"

His turnover rate would be the same and so would his assist numbers. Francis assist do not come from assist to players for lay-ups or fast-breaks as much as they do for passing out to players on the 3 point line. That's not due to court vision, but a desperation pass out of necessity.

TD would get his points off post play, not catch and shoot. So, SF assist numbers would still have to come from supporting guards and forwards that would make up the Spurs team. And those type of assist would not increase because it completely removes TD from the equation. See that's the problem. You still have a team to run that does not include TD. So, does he suddenly stop making turnovers when TD is on the court, but starts up again when he's on the bench?

You need to get it out of your head that a PG needs to have a star like TD in order to NOT MAKE TURNOVERS.

So, Francis can't walk and chew gum at the same time? He's not a PG, then.
