Parker was stuck in no man's land.

When the Laker D focused on him, he couldn't get to the basket (Shaq primarily). And then when he found the open man, the Spurs couldn't hit the broad side of Shaquille's bald head.

Such is the fate of a point guard.

Now, if Parker was a better player/athlete than SF, he would have found ways to create his own shot and get his numbers regardless.

But, unfortunately, he is not. He's only a better PG.

    Case closed.

    Point proven.

    Spurs season over.

    I hate Malone.

    Last 4 games:

    12.5 pts/game
    31% shooting
    4 to/game
    17% 3 pts

Hmmm! This is the same guy that would never be traded for Steve!!! NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER....

Francis makes bonehead plays at times (okay, a lot of the time), but at least he ALWAYS plays like he has a pair. I watched the last Lakers/Spurs game with my mom, and she said, "that little guard sure does look scared". He was timid over the last 4 games, and that's one of the main reasons that the Spurs lost.

SA can keep Parker. I want men on my squad.

Good thing I waited for the series to end to post, because the real TONY PARKER just stood up! My goodness that guy freakin sucks. Major CHOKE CITY on his part. Shooting up wide open airballs, missing point blank layups, getting torched on D. He has speed, but that's about it. He gets knocked to the floor a few times and is scared to play basketball. At least Steve has heart. he hits the ground one play and tried to dunk on you the next. NO FEAR. That's what seperates Steve from TP. Granted steve turns the ball over a lot, So did TP in the last game. That was the worst game I've ever seen from any player. He couldn't do a damn thin right. At least when Steve shoots airballs, he is shooting with guys in his FACE.. Parker just airballs because he has no shot. Steve's athletic ability alone is reason to believe that he is better than tony parker. Cuz he does it all. Scoring rebound passing. The comes in the league avg 20 5 and 5, and we all expect him to increase and improve soo much , but there isn't much improvement u can make to those stats cuz only a few other players in the NBA can do it. STEVE FRANCE just needs more time to adjust to the Rockets system, and Van Gundy needs to run more plays for him, and Next year the Rockets will be in the Second round of the playoffs. Forget Tony Parker..

It's really sad we actually have to ARGUE who's better. SF made $9.9M while Parker made $0.9M this year. When Parker's contract is up after next season, how much will he make? $7M? $8m? SF will make $12.6M at the time.

    Enough said.

In war or in the NBA playoffs, bet on the French to fold like a bad crepe.

bigboymumu, I bet you've been saving that. Heh...Stick around. Parker is young (21). And he'll do something that Francis has not done: improve each year.

I mean, you really think that Parker will not learn from this? This was the first time in the play-offs that he's been considered a threat. The year before he was a role player under Duncan and Robinson.

Don't worry. He'll learn and improve. I mean, even if you asked Payton this, he'd agree.

it is hard to improve when you come in avg. 20 6 6
    compared to 9 4 2

and who is to say in a different system he would not fall apart?
we all seen him fall apart when teams focus on him for the past two years.

You can argue with that logic on any young player, but the fact of the matter is, some do and some don't. You could just as easily say that Francis still has a lot of room for improvement and will do so. Just because Parker is young doesn't mean he has the golden ticket and its a sure thing taht he will improve upon where he is at now.

That's true. But I didn't just pick "any young player." I think Parker has proven himself pretty well for a 21 year old. His role has increased since his rookie season.

The reason I don't think that Francis will improve much is because he has that problem with "learning (the athletic part if fine)." I mean, enough with the promises. Why doesn't he just prove it?

Can you defend Francis on either? I mean, seriously...SF is running out of time. We'll be hearing the same thing about SF when he's 30..."But he just needs time..."

And please don't say that SF is "improving with age."

LOL. Salary is not one of the major factors in the discussion? If SF is making $0.9M or TP is making $9.9M this year, this topic would be "SF better than Tony Parker" and appears in the spurs forum. U think people would be so harsh on SF if he makes $6M? Why do many posters here want a more stable but less talented PG? Because it fits our needs AND we pay less for the service.

When Francis gets traded, you can follow his 20/6/6 over there (have fun!).

Looking at stats alone is not taking into acount at the big picture: team. You are overlooking the teams needs and how they fit with the other players. Francis does not fit with this team. In the end, that's all that matters. Not just the stats.

What good is 20/6/6 if that player plays dumb? You'll never win a championship like that.
