That Mohammed South Park episode was funny.

Either you support freedom of speech, or you're Jesse Jackson.

    And:

    1) Tony might not know what it means.
    2) It might mean something else to him.

That soccer player who did it was pointing at his team logo on his sleeve.

I apologize for the double post.

Trust me, Anelka knew what he was doing. He has a long history of asshattery and provocation.

And what Parker did was (at least to many French people) worse. He used the salute as a response to the question "What do you think of François Hollande?" (the president of France).

He must not be very smart or politically sensitive then.

It seems to be a thing with French athletes. Maybe to show some support to the comedian who popularized the sign and who's currently under fire. But as Europeans, they would know they should steer away from any anti-Semitism.

Ok, after seeing the pictures; touching your shoulder with your other hand while that arm is elevated slightly in front of Auschwitz or a picture of Anne Frank could be considered rascist. However, when I saw the picture of Anelka; my 1st thought was that as a high schooler in the early 60's we did that jesture every time we rolled our cigarette packs up in our white t-shirt sleeves.

To be PC now, we have to very careful when our shoulder or chest itches, we place our hand over our heart during the Pledge of Allegance or Heaven help us if while during a heart attach we forget & grab our chest, shoulder or upper arm. Peter, Paul & Mary sang it best - "The times, they are achangin".

Nope. You should open your eyes. Racial/Ethnic Hate is not ok. Neither is throwing around gestures, symbols, signs or anything else that promotes or supports it.

When I first read this, I thought this must be a joke. But after seeing the photograph where Parker is doing the gesture with the comedien/jerk who has been popularizing it, it's clear it was intentional, it's clear he knew it was a gesture associated with the comedien, and that Parker either doesn't care about its racist implications or is stupid. Bummer.

Well the executives of the league are Jewish, so they will take even more offense to them.

based on some of the responses and reactions here and on twitter above, he owes an explanation if not an apology.

if there is so much confusion and misunderstanding about the gesture (which admittedly many of us are learning about for the first time), he should use his status as a public figure to shed enlightenment on what it means when they endorse it.
