I read that he did it couple of times.
the odd thing, is that the nazi regime didn't liked black either. How can't he know that?

heres one video of Parker doing it.

I'd say he knew he was being photographed.

So is this comedian more of a shock type guy or a legit hate monger?

Giving this much play to it makes it more popular. Male bravado takes over and now they will do it because they aren't suppose to. Anelka is clown and ruined the French national team last world cup and was suspended. He has the brain of a 16 year old boy.

You would have no idea who Salman Rushdie was or is if the Ayatollah hadn't complained about his book (The Satanic Verses). By "you" I mean the people who actually read and know about the world around them. Oh and people who don't knee jerk every 5 seconds about Rocket loses.

Is this the French equivalent of NBA players throwing up gang signs?

Well I guess that is pretty straightforward.

Just another reason to hate the Spurs.

Parker knew what he was doing. It was anti-semitic. He should be reprimanded for it. It's not a well-known gesture in America, and to be honest, my first initial thought was "really?", but after reading up on it, and getting the opinion of resident Germans, it seems to be regaining popularity in Europe.

I doubt the Spurs would let this go without making a statement and doing something. It's on Parker, not the ownership or the management of the Spurs (or their fans).

Problem with this is that they (Parker, Anelka) are so stupid.

They do this because they think its funny/cool or whatever but they don't realise the impact.

    leads to:

    and

(thats Auschwitz, a Nazi concentration camp)

    Great example for the kids...

it seems to me like the french activist is a comedian along the lines of Joe Rogan or something like that- a non conformist who revels in the controversy that makes him popular and a household name among young people.

it almost makes me think these youth are being trolled by him. but they take it a step further and clearly show poor judgment when they frame it around photos of concentration camps and places of jewish cultural significance.

I mean, how can a comedian make up a gesture and it spreads to an entire generation within 4 years?

Aaaaaannnndddd here we go, exactly what I thought would happen:

    http://lci.tf1.fr/france/faits-divers/toulouse-enquete-sur-une-quenelle-devant-l-ecole-ohr-torah-8339011.html

It's in french so I will translate it roughly:
"Investigation on a picture of an individual doing the "quenelle" gesture in front of a Jewish school in Toulouse where Mohamed Merah assassinated a teacher and 3 jewish students in March 2012. The young man is wearing a white t-shirt with the photo of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat (basically the enemy of every jew)"

    So it begins.

What leads you to believe I can't have a civil debate about anything?

So what's the difference between this and drawing Mohammed, Arabs being portrayed as terrorists over a group smaller than Timothy MCVeigh's group (much smaller percentage wise than), that Mohammed movie, etc.?

Freedom of speech my ass. As long it offends X and not Y.

Audiences used to think that, but in years since, he's stepped up the rhetoric and associated himself with ultra-right politicians and causes.

It's one thing to be contraversial and un-PC and get a rise out of people, it's another to associate yourself with the French equivalent of David Duke and say it's "just a joke."
