Don't be an idiot. If a guy scored a basket and pulled out a KKK banner and started waiving it you wouldn't hesitate to say it was raciest act of hate. This is no different.

If a white man scored a basket and then pulled out a doll of a black man hanging from a burning cross you would not question what the dumb ass was thinking. That would be seen (and rightly so) as racial or ethnic hatred.

There is no second or alternate meaning for the use of quenelle salute. Tony Parker knew exactly what he was doing and exactly what it's meaning was.

It doesn't matter if it's a well known salute, gesture or symbol. What it is, is a very specific gesture that has exactly one meaning.

Personally I hope he doesn't apologize either because it would be disingenuous and fake with no real sincerity to it at all. Let the world go on knowing that he is a low class, obnoxious, adulterer, racist.

The NFL penalizes players and fines players for the throat slash gesture. It's a much less controversial gesture as it is done to show that a player just figuratively killed a team or another player on the field. But because of the other meaning of actual violence the NFL does not tolerate it.

There is no figurative meaning for the quenelle salute. There is no other way to take it's meaning and the NBA should not tolerate it.

Never heard of the gesture prior to this thread, but after reading up on it and Dieudonné I would think Parker would be disciplined in some way - unless this whole thing just fades away and doesn't garner any attention. I could see that happening since in the USA it's just not known well enough to get people upset.

Surprisingly, there's no thread about it on SpursTalk.

The Jewish community is involved. This is obviously serious and he should apologize.

OK. I give up. I can't see the salute. Is it the "sticking tongue"? That is the only image I can see from that link.

Throttle back your rage, calm down, stop insulting people, and don't rush to judgement until all the facts are in.

    Casspi is not amused.

Looks like some salute I saw in the original star trek series, the one where they were in the bizarro universe and evil spock had a fu manchu.

If you mean abortion except when the life of the mother is threatened, I might agree. Generally Judaism does not view the fetus as a living person but rather as a potentiality. What about liberals supporting abortion is ironic? You obviously are incapable of having a civil debate about abortion. I recognize that both sides have a legitimate point of contention. Emphasizing the baby's liberty interest versus the interest of the mother spawns the entire debate.

I don't see a reason to derail a thread about Tony Parker's antisemtic gestures and affiliations by bringing in abortion...

Parker, like Anelka, are either incredibly ignorant, incredibly bigoted, or (likely) both.

    Period.

I have a feeling if this ever hits any of the major news stations (ESPN), NBA will suspend him for maybe 10 games.

NBA is too global and cares about it's image to not respond.

And yes, this just further confirms that Parker is indeed a douchebag.

Reverse-Nazi sounds like a positive thing. Like the opposite of a Nazi salute.

Did he know he was being photographed (I haven't seen the picture)? If it was just a thoughtless mimicking of the gesture without considering what it meant and someone else happened to photograph it, I'd give him a break.
