Absolutely agree. A test drive of an NBA-skilled 6'10" Small Forward who will turn 29 in a few days for 350-400k? There are only two concerns that I see. Does he play enough D for Van Gundy and would his PT cut into Bogans' PT? Unfortunately for TimTom, we've moved from ex-Knicks to ex-UK Wild Cats.
TT wouldn't sign here. he is looking at staying in the east (skiles said he is worried that TT will sign with a team that is fighting for the last few playoff spots like they are). his main issue is that he wants to play a lot. he would only get like 10 minutes a game here. we could play him at the 4 to spread the defense though. that way he gets the minutes he wants, but stro gets benched the rest of the season.
Word is tha Delk is going to look at Detroit first. They are looking for a backup PG as well (even though they still have Hunter). I expect Delk to go to Detroit. As for Tim Thomas....the knock on him has always been his defense. Doesnt seem like a good match here with JVG. And from everything I have read, teams in the east want him such as the 76ers. But Paxson is trying to make it so that Thomas can't sign with an East team as a condition of the buyout.
He is definitely athletic enough to be a great defender. Maybe Van Gundy can motivate him. He has T-Mac playing great D and he wasn't exactly known for his defense before he came here. He did the same with Francis too. Getting him motivated is the whole issue. He could start on this team if he played with some drive. Also, if I remember correctly, he wasn't the best decision maker. But you have to take a shot at him if you can. There's too much upside there.
TT is a tall, athletic dude who does not know how to play basketball. No basketball IQ, no defense IQ or disire. TT would be a perfect Knick, if only they could find a way to pay him a huge salary.
TT's shooting percentage is low, and he doesn't play defense. His motivation seems to be less than Stro's. He didn't want to play for the Bulls. He wouldn't fit with us. He was an ex-Knick who didn't do well there. If Delk can still shoot well he could be useful in a playoff run but the Pistons could be a better fit for him.
I'd be ecstatic to play anywhere for so much as the league minimum. Anyone who wouldn't isn't in their right mind.
Is Penny healthy? If so, I would rather bring someone like him in to backup T-Mac a few minutes a game...he can still score and has the requisite size to play SF or SG. Besides, McGrady was a big Penny fan growing up, so it might help make it fun for him to have Penny around.
we're getting desperate, aren't we? a good team should not sign any of those players. tony delk is old and often injured. he's just another tweener who wants to score. what the rockets need is size and athleticism at the 2 and 3. he won't give us that. he's just another tweener for the 1 and 2. and on that positions we already have tweeners in head, wesley and barry. tim thomas is just a bad player. when you compare players by defensive abilities and size and athelticism he's probably the worst player in the nba. plus he lacks desire and basketball iq. he can hit the 3 a little better than average, but that's his only advantage. penny hardaway on the other side was done like 4 or 5 years ago. he would be best used playing some cards with bob sura (sorry, bob). they won't play any professional basketball anymore in their lifes at all.
