Can you imagine what he'll face when he returns to Houston? Lol

There should be no reason to pay him if he goes on commissioners list imo.
Get paid to not work? Because of his possible transgressions? Nah

Yeah, that's absolutely ridiculous. If he can't play he shouldn't get paid

The key is the word "possible". The commissioner's list skips due process - it's meant to be a quick fix. But the commish doesn't have the power to just unilaterally take away guaranteed salaries. They can prevent him from playing, but that's about all.

Imagine being forced to pay a guy, who doesn't even want to work for you, tens of millions of dollars for doing nothing but being a dick towards women. We live in a completely ****ed up world...

Yeah I get that, but there should be some provision. Not paid during and back paid if settled or innocent.

That or if there’s a provision to suspend for conduct detrimental. Not sure if this would fall under that or not honestly.

But his legal issues are separate from his playing. There's nothing that he did that prevents him from playing football (until/unless he goes to jail). The issue is simply the NFL doesn't *want* him to play football. From a big picture perspective, he's just been sued. There's been no court proceedings, and he hasn't been charged with a crime of any sort. There's not really any rational reason to withhold his salary. There's no way would the NFLPA ever agree to a system that alllowed that. It's no different than cops or teachers or others being "suspended with pay" while undergoing internal investigations.

No a settlement does not mean he can get on with his life, the Texans would have grounds to terminate his contract and forever he would be known as the guy that settled rape accusations.

Who is gonna sign him to be the face of the franchise after that?

Yes some team would sign him but at a significant reduction.

This is 2021 during the metoo era.

I have no idea why you think he can just go on with his life.

None of them should be suspended with pay imo.
The accusations are serious enough to rise to the level of no pay. At least until cleared.

Entitlement to that pay and contract should be nullified with a morality clause. If he’s innocent he gets fully reimbursed.
The Texans shouldn’t be the victim here imo

Rootes didn't like his part of the org being dug around into and finding a bunch of sexual misconduct allegations/suit. It wasn't a coincidence that Rootes left shortly after Cal took over and after 20 years of failure I personally am glad Cal shook things up and I've been one of Cal's biggest critics.

Look I love AJ, but being honest he's a former player who's not the sharpest tool in the shed and this doesn't mean he's not a great person, (He is) So I take his comments with a grain of salt, he's a former player who unwisely chose to back a perverted horse.

    Thanks for the legal advice.

Nor should he be able to just go on with his life as it was before these allegations.

So you should be suspended without pay just based on accusations?

    Possible transgressions=No pay

    Really?

    Who said he should?

I hope you never get accused of anything with this attitude.

Generally speaking, no union or employee is ever going to agree to work under a "guilty until proven innocent" scenario.

It was reported immediately after the Caserio hire that multiple people in the org, including DW4 and Rootes, were pissed about how Cal went about the hiring. Went as far as saying that Rootes had already tried to resign. That was 2 months before any of the DW4 allegations became public.

At the end, there is nothing that indicates the two issues were interconnected. Trying to say otherwise is pure conjecture and goes against something that was widely reported and subsequently confirmed by multiple people.

On top of that, you could even argue the lawsuits only made it more likely he'd want to stay in Houston, given his plummeting market value + at least some of a Houston fanbase who's still rooting for him.

Rootes lost power to Easterby and quit.

Caserio was a Cal (Wanted Caserio for atleast eighteen months) and Easterby hire. DW4 wanted a minority hire for both the GM/HC positions. I still believe DW4 was trying to run from these allegations and if you feel differently then we will have to agree to disagree.
