Missed it last night. How did Hunstman do? With moving his headquarters to NH and poor numbers, it seems his campaign is essentially banking everything on this state. Any change?
Not really. He tried to crack a joke about the Mormon thing that was flatter a 10 year old girl. No one but him laughed, heck, I'm not sure it was apparent to the people at the table what he was even trying to suggest. His constant pumping up of Utah is more forced than Perry's Tejas harping. It sounds awkward everytime and I wish he would back off of it. Also, his attempts to be "philosophical" when gets asked questions drives me nuts. "What kind of person would you want in position X?" "Someone like my dad." Oh come on. His speech patterns drive me crazy as well. Huntsman would likely be a good president in my mind, but he drives me up the wall in these debates. That said, nobody is bad as Perry. He's so out of his element and awkward...I don't understand how his people let him get into this. He's a disaster.
Thanks for the recap. I'm by no means a GOP guy but I've seen all the debates and have always been puzzled why Huntsman isn't doing better than he's doing. But I definitely hear you on the philosophical attempts and bizarre mannerisms during the debates. I guess at the end of the day he just doesn't have the name recognition that some of the other candidates have. Well, that and the sheer fact that he's not: A) Crazy and/or B) Incompetent -- and therefore "interesting" and polarizing among the GOP base.
I heard him, but couldn't make it out. Heckler At Last GOP Debate Was Vet Upset With Booing Of Gay Soldier Viewers of Tuesday’s Bloomberg News/Washington Post debate at Dartmouth College caught the sound of an unintelligible heckler off stage near the end of the forum. The candidates and moderator Charlie Rose seemed to hear the sounds of a man yelling, but the mics didn’t pick up what he was saying. Now, a report out of New Hampshire says the heckler was a veteran upset at the booing of an active-duty gay solider in Iraq at a September debate in Orlando. Andrew Vera of Hanover…said he spoke up Tuesday night right after Rick Santorum finished speaking about restoring “American values.” “I said, ‘Yeah, right, you say you want American Values back in the American Family, then where were you, when they booed the gay soldier during the last debate,’”
not saying its good, but i think some people really misunderstand the appeal of cain. he's a more accomplished palin, someone who speaks in simplicities. he has a plan albeit not viable. he's a self made common guy. romney may have won the debate on both style and substance, but cain didn't lose any of his support.
he's not as attractive as Palin though But yea he didnt lose any support in fact a few polls shows he closed the gap or taken the lead.
I know I shouldn't be surprised, but the very fact that Cain's 9-9-9 tax scheme hasn't been his political undoing is very disheartening to me.
I keep thinking I've seen it somewhere... hmmm... Spoiler !!! EDIT: sorry, did not understand the extent to which this joke was old, even per debate standards. D'oh.
Forgot to mention this after the debate, but did anyone else "lol 4 real" when Gingrich was going around the table pointing out the things he agrees with each candidate on and Michelle Bachman started saying "REPEAL OBAMA CARE REPEAL OBAMA CARE!" with that grin on her face? Gingrich had to stop mid sentence to humor her. LOL She is a total joke.
