Cain got beat up tonight. "Mr Cain, what do you say about economists saying your 9-9-9 plan actually gives less in tax revenue?" Cain; "Those numbers are wrong" Really? That's it, someone tells you something and your only response is 'nope, they're wrong' What a failure he's being shown as.
It appears that Romney and Bachman have forged a bit of an alliance. Santorium looks the most Presidential.
Josh Marshall -- 9:45 PM: The average low-information voter isn't going to be exposed to any account of this debate that includes this necessary corrective: The prescription for economic recovery offered by the Republican presidential field is completely divorced from reality.
Saying "you're making assumptions when my people aren't" I'm sorry is not explaining a thing. He bombed that exchange.
Got in from working out and just finished the post-workout meal. What's happened so far? Is Perry finally buried? Did Cain get punctured? Of the three main guys (Romney, Perry, Cain), who came off the best and worst?
Cain was taking it from everywhere about his 9-9-9 plan, moderators and the other nominees. Perry looked to be in over his head after 5 minutes (no exaggeration) Romney looked the best of the 3. Newt did his typical "let me but in on the discussion to talk about how evil the government is" even though he's been a part of said government for decades. Bachmann didn't look or sound crazy, which I guess someone finally told her to get serious. Santorum other than slapping Cain down in regards to his tax plan did nothing. Huntsman tried taking a stab at Romney and failed. Paul said the same thing he's been saying, down the the Fed. + Romney, Bachmann - Gingrich, Perry, Cain no change; Huntsman, Paul, Santorum
He's a moron on foreign policy too. Apparently he's going to counter the Iranian threat by deploying Aegis cruisers to stop them from firing their ballistic missiles at us.
The fact that Cain is a serious candidate shows how weak the Republican field is, and how bad the Tea Party does not want Mitty.
Wouldn't it be more informative if they had like an open book test? The candidates get the questions before hand and then each presents a 500 word policy statement on each issue. They could have any adviser they want write them because that's what real Presidents do. It's not about knowing who the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan is or just "no new taxes' but real, complex policies and action plans.
